Imagine if ROTB's true ending is like this:

Optimus gives a long speech, resolving to protect humanity on Earth. Meanwhile, Mirage and Noah are just hanging out together, when Noah introduces Mirage to one of his friends. Arcee and Wheeljack are shown to resume their relationship. In Peru, the Maximals return to their jungle as protectors of wildlife. They are seen hanging out with Stratosphere, while Bumblebee (upgraded) and Cheetor are having a friendly race between each other.

Elsewhere, a crocodile stealthily rises out from a river next to the site of the final battle. The crocodile crawls onto land, surveying the corpses of the Terrorcons, and grabs something with his jaw- a fragment of the broken Transwarp key. He transforms into robot mode, and he says "Yesss....", his face turning towards the camera with a very sly and sneaky smile.

This sounds pretty messed up I'm sorry everytime someone's talks about this whole bayverse optimus prime thing I'm just going to assume we got morons talking about this again

 

I feel like I’m losing my mind reading all this mental gymnastics work by you people. I really can’t wait for the film to come out and for you all to see all this speculation was pointless. It’s insane to me that suddenly everyone here is thinking that idiotic rumor is seriously true now when it’s been debunked already. This site is hilarious sometimes

 

Ease up yo. It’s just harmless speculation for the most part. If it turns out to be in the film somehow, cool. If not (way likelier), then you can have the personal satisfaction of being right. Either way, we still get a cool new TF film. At least it’s not a bunch of folks bitching about “wrong” design choices or how Lorenzo personally k*lled their dog and burned their house down.  

 

If this Scourge is supposed to take some inspiration from RID01, who is a redeco from G2 Prime, then I think they wanted to go with a subtle design reference to that and how some characters tend to be re uses of character designs from past continuity. I don't think Scourge is Bay Prime, but his design and backstory will probably be similar to RID Scourge and just be an evil Venom-like rival thats meant to copy Optimus likeness by giving him Bay Prime’s looks to contrast Optimus having his G1 look for ROTB.

 

Dude that's different if you're speculating this is not we have gone to the point where most of you guys are finding the most dumbest and irrelevant things to connect the rumor with. Not just that but most of you guys over complicate things when they shouldn't or you guys think wsy to deep about something that is not

Don’t look at me. I’m very much in the “let’s see the movie first before speaking on it in any way” crowd. I’m just saying getting annoyed at people running with rumors is a waste of energy, especially when negativity is running rampant in these threads.

I actually really like this idea. It's subtle, but still gives closure for the Bayverse and adds some characterization to the main villain (which we rarely get with these movies).

I doubt it will happen though, but I do believe this was the original plan they had - hence the similar head designs. They most likely scrapped it somewhere along development but (obviously) didn't bother to change the designs.

That's actually a pretty good way to go about Scourge for ROTB since like you said it'd be a big nod to how in RID01 Scourge while not being related or even being RID01 Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy still has some connection design wise to help sell the idea of him being an evil Optimus Prime theming wise when he was created. It also wouldn't be out of character for Unicron to do that as a way to spite Optimus Prime and his ideals.

Either way like I said if they were going to go with Scourge being a reformatted Bay Optimus at one point they dropped it long ago if the recent test screenings that said Scourge isn't bayverse Prime are true and from how these renders of the characters aren't reflecting of the characters we've seen in the actual trailers and theatre standee that actually shows their more accurate looks that does seem to be the case which again is obviously the right call to make.
