Funny story there.

I didn't want to risk breaking my copy so I asked a friend if he could try splitting the head of his first Tarn, which broke during an unrelated botched pin removal attempt, to see if it was doable. He confirmed it was via a tool specifically made to split parts from gundam models, so I bought the tool and tried it myself, but unfortunately I ended up damaging the back half of the head trying to split it (should have heated it up with a hairdryer more to break the glue down). Thankfully my friend gave me the cleanly-split head from his broken figure and I proceeded with that.

Masked off everything from the back half of the head except for the eyes with tape, broke out the airbrush, primed, painted, sealed and reassembled the head, which thankfully has the eyes set so deep the risk of paint chipping is virtually none, now Tarn looks alive.

 

@Hyoumaru - what tool is it that your friend used? I loathe badly implemented light piping and need to get into Tarn's head.

Actually yeah that would be pretty cool. The actual reason I have them all together is because I plan on using them for some pre-earth beast wars characters.
