I like how Optimus and Starscream basically have the same color scheme.

 

Must be how Starscream got the part in the movie for Megatron's Master Plan.

 

So Starscream’s red is inappropriate?

I love it when the red is added to Megatron’s inner arms, legs, and abs. MP-36+ is pretty much perfect. Sunbow Megs is dull.

 

It should be purple.

And true enough I seen some orange Creamsicle‘s that were lighter in the shade most I’ve seen for the last 50 years of look like this



Certainly darker and that shade of yellow are used

Anyway not that I’m trying to make a big argument out of this but I’ll save this …..Our sun is described as A yellow sun is yellow , the character was named for our sun…….I don’t see much sense in using orange as its primary color

Purple is waaaay over-used in Decepticons. It’s cliche at this point.

I guess that can be my unpopular opinion of the hour: There are no “hero” and “villain” colors or color schemes. Such assignments are a myopic notion. I’ve not met anyone who I could categorize as a good or bad person based on their color or on the colors they wear.

On a related note, I dislike the blue/red eye color assignments. Optics color in TFs should show more variety and not be faction-limited.

 

We could use some more purple-colored Autobots.

 

The Decepticon insignia is purple. Loyal Decepticons should, on average, have purple on them.

 

Purple is the best color, so yes, agreed.

 

Colors are all part of a spectrum, and names we give them are just words. One person’s orange is another’s yellow. I might call that orange-yellow… or yellow-orange. I’ve seen Sunstorm (both in toys and media) done in everything from medium orange to very bright yellow. There’s little consistency.

Besides which, there are a number of people on these boards who either don’t see color accurately or else just don’t know the appropriate names for what they see.

 

I could pretty much agree with all of this except for just one thing

Words have meaning and while it may not always be the case it is quite often that the names/words we label things are very often intended to invoke certain ideas or aspects of what’s being given a particular name/word

Sometimes the answer is quite obvious, other times it’s not like in the case of Bluestreak who wasn’t named for haveing any blue colors on his body

“Neat” isn’t the adjective I would choose.

 

Which is why I used the qualifier of how it looks to me rather than speaking in absolutes  

My original point however still stands....If I want a brightly colored jet (and I do!) and I was given the choice for a new toy, I'd take Hooligan every time over Sunstorm

 

Hooligan is quite neat. I think you get into time, there, for the preference.
