No… Lucasfilm under Disney is flawless perfection.
    Above reproach.

When looking at industry news it’s usually a good idea to try and understand it in the context of the industry as a whole, not whatever framing your favourite agenda-driven click bait site is trying to feed you to get your advertising dollars. When www.superherofanboi4lyfe.com quotes something someone said in Rolling Stone, read the Rolling Stone article. When they talk about rumours, consider it to be bullshit. When they talk about issues with movie development, that’s normal. It’s why it’s called development, not production, and it takes time to get it right.

Far too much weight is put on these non-stories just because people pay attention to them. There’s a difference between attention seeking and being noteworthy.

Not sure which stories your talking about but Disney needs a lot of money. They are currently doing what HBO Max/WB did last year cancelling movies, firing thousands of people, and rethinking the direction of the company after losing a crap load of money last year, they need to find 5 billion in the entertainment sector and 12 billion over all. This isn’t some fringe site’s posting about it, this is coming from Iger in Disney investment calls and being reported by major places like Deadline, the New York Times and other major publications.

it’s so tiring how in the last decade or so every nerd on the internet acting like armchair experts about the industry. Wow, so many commenters on the internet who seem to know the right way to make Star Wars a lucrative franchise!

It doesn't take an MBA to know that it's probably not a good idea to take a franchise that is non-partisan, then make it highly partisan, which then alienates half of the fan base.

How has anything recent been highly partisan?

    There's no agenda or anything?

Wait- alienating audiences and attacking the vans to defend bad content isn’t a path the success?

    Who da thunk it?

I too lament the loss of the old days when Star Wars was apolitical and about nothing more than a small diverse group of rebels attempting to take down a fascist right-wing government full of faceless drones and Yes men out to seize power no matter the cost to others or how much it corrupted them. Those were much simpler times.

In hindsight it’s amazing the MCU turned out as well as it did. Feige announced a lot of projects upfront too and it’s amazing as much of that stayed on track as it did.

I imagine Kennedy was forced to announce a lot of projects too and she just wasn’t up to managing something like that. She worked closely with Lucas and probably developed a lot of his habits, namely focusing on the big projects, holding off announcements till you’re really ready, and let others make the little things that make you money like cartoons, comics, video games, and books.

Lucas never felt the need to tell everyone what or who he was thinking of for each scene. George based a lot of the films on current (at the time) political issues, but he grabbed a lot of different things and cobbled them together. For example, the Rebellion is heavily based upon the Viet Kong, and Palpatine was originally inspired by Nixon. However, he only used those as inspirations and turned them into their own things by the time we see the story. As a result, everyone can see themselves as the Rebel Alliance, the Jedi, etc.

Hope this isn't too political, as I'm just discussing the inspirations for 40+ year old films.

I’m of the opinion just about any concept can work if you actually work to make it work. Which Boba Fett did not.

The Mandalorian stole the show after it was apparent that the majority of book of boba fett was crud.

The recent season of The Mandalorian has been pretty mid so far, at least to me. Maybe I just got too used to Andor, which was the real showstopper.

I think they’re referring to the actual character taking over Boba Fett’s show. But yes, I agree with you regarding Season 3 even though I’ve been more positive about 3/4 episodes than others.

Grogu grabbing the Antzellan to hug him like a teddy bear was still really cute, such fun puppet work and cute squeaks from Grogu, and them calling him a “bad baby”.
