Usually, we start with the characters in mind that we want to see produced.

I'd like to work backwards from that and look at some rarely used molds, particularly exclusives to a retailer or foreign market, that I think could be made to work in unexpected ways.

Deluxe Class Nezha (Chinese exclusive) - This one was a bit bigger and more premium than Cyberverse Deluxes and the almost Samurai-style hip armor makes me think of Drift.

Voyager Class Gaia Unicron (Japan exclusive) - I'd like to see this one as a Krampus Unicron to fight Holiday Optimus. Krampus and Unicron have some basic similarities and I think you could almost get a Christmas tree out of the altmode.

Origins Jazz (Target exclusive) - IMHO a great foundation for G1 Action Master Rad.

Origins Bumblebee (Target exclusive) - A great foundation for Gobots Pathfinder.

Siege Soundblaster/Netflix Soundwave (Walmart exclusive) - Two retools of Siege Soundwave that I think should be combined. G1 Soundwave (in cartoons) could store multiple cassettes in his chest like Soundblaster but turned into a cassette player like Netflix Soundwave. Why not combine both retools?

You mean the Ford vehicle? Yeah I think there'll eventually be a retool of that character into someone else.
Though I'm not sure who that someone will be.

 

Prior to getting a dedicated mold for Overlord in TR, I always thought that Energon Megatron could have made a decent one with a few remolds. He’s got the jet mode, he’s got the tank, and they combine for a transport mode.

I admit, the idea is a little redundant after the great Titans Return version though.

 

Animated Prowl would make a better Moonracer than the POTP mold did.

Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime as Nova Prime.

 

Kingdom Maximal Fossilizer Wingfinger.
Retool him into a figure that turns into an Archaeopteryx fossil.

Earthrise Decepticon Runamuck/Runabout.
Retool into G1 Throttlebot Chase.

 

Star Saber with extra IDW bits (more in line with the 3rd Party IDW style).......the only catch is that Star Saber was a Haslabs Mold.......

That's not a "rarely used" mold tbh, the Conehead version of the mold has been used a good few times and recently we got Cloudcover.

 

Siege Springer as Deadlock.

 

I always thought a slight retool of Animated Romdimus would make a good Animated Cybertronian mode Optimus Primal. Give it a new head, take away the spoiler and change the part of the chest that flips into looking more like primals.

POTP Dreadwind ---> Buster
HFTD Ironhide ---> in G1 red
DOTM '67 Camero Bumblebee ---> reverse colors (yellow w/ black stripes)

 

Much as I tend to poo-poo BM (see what I did there?), I would not be at all surprised if we got some Beast Machines Selects from the RotB molds... i.e. That mainline deluxe Airazor is a new head and paintjob away from being a BM Silverbolt.

BUT! I want to see some Legacy Beast Machines Vehicons:
Strika from Universe Onslaught
Obsidian from DotM Skyhammer (new wing to have Osprey-style rotors)
Jetstorm from either T30 Brainstorm or K Cyclonus
Thrust from SS BB Arcee
Tankor I dunno... guess you could sorta OSKO the T30 deluxe... or maybe a heavily simplified 2007 Leader Brawl since so much tread ends on his lower legs?

I agree with those who have already said Maverick should have been used again already. It's a really good figure... and yeah, OK the likes of Hooligan can happen from it... but honestly? I want it to have a new head amd made into Leader-1 (pick a new name if you must). And that would go great with..
