I have 20 Optimus Primes what’s the problem with 2 Prowls

 

Wait are you saying animated prowl is too different from his G1 counterpart or too similar? Cause if it’s the former then duh it’s literally a different continuity of course they’d be different. But if it’s the latter, what on gods green earth do they look similar? Like some animated characters look fairly similar to their G1 counterparts but Prowl is the exception where he looks completely different. Dumb either way

 

Honestly the only things I feel Prowl has in common is the head crest and turning into something police related. So Animated Prowl and G1 Prowl have about as much in common as G1 Prowl and 07 Barricade.

 

My collection of BikeBots slowly grows.

While I also have Junkheap and Core Class ROTB Arcee, I wanted to just show the Legacy bots because unpopular(?) take, I think they did an excellent job of G1-ifying these guys. Prowl gets all the praise he deserves but Arcee, while not ideal, gets all the shit she doesn't deserve. At least I think so. But here's my tin foil hat theory;
Maybe they released an Arcee R.E.D. figure because they knew not everyone would take to the Legacy version. They did the same for Knockout. Don't like the G1-ification? Get a fully screen accurate and not terrible looking figure from R.E.D.
Who knows, maybe TFP Megatron and Optimus will follow the same path, they got their R.E.D. figures, we'll see if they get Legacy'd.

I love the way the resident BikeBots of their respective universes look!

When Legacy Arcee was revealed I joked about how there would be a Prowl retooled from her. Surprisingly, he isn't! He only shares the part where the bike seat forms from the arms. And the back kibble forming to connect and stabilize the bike mode.

Transformers G1-imated!
I wanted to have Bulkhead cross his arms but...no way is a Bulkhead figure managing that. Lmao

 

I’m sure I’m not the first to point this out, but with a simple leg swap, Crashbar looks much better. And, I can head canon this as two separate characters.

 

Meh. Symmetry is overrated.

Especially on guys like the Junkions.

 

G1 Prowl and Animated Prowl are both Autobot rescue vehicles with head crests who are close to Optimus Prime and share a name. It's the same reason I skipped Cybertron Metroplex.

If you like to collect multiples of the character, more power to you. I'm not telling you how to collect. But don't ever call me "dumb" for saving space and money.

 

Apart from the head crest and being a police vehicle they look completely different. And personality wise they could not be more different.

He havs even less in common than ER/Seige Barricade, Smokescreen, and Bluestreak. So if you consider them different characters, just use them as different characters.

Good point. If the first 2 leaked photos it looked big, but the last set looks better. And in hand, even better.

I would agree, of the Prime updates last year she was done the best.

And he does look good with Bulkhead.

 

If you can rationalize different bots existing with the same body type I don't think two bots with similar heads but totally different body designs, colors, and alt modes are that much of a stretch. I'll just call him Nightprowler and say he's a ninja who trained with Drift.

 

It's a great looking figure but I'm fully expecting to see the mold again as Road Pig or something, so I'm not sweating the different body types. I'd also be happy if they ever released this dude in G1 colors although I'm not sure why they would. If they truly never use this mold again, I'll consider swapping my ER Prowl for this one.

I respect that you like to headcanon and repurpose figures, but I'm personally not really into doing that. I like the characters to represent who they're intended to. Between the two Prowls there's just a little too much shared DNA for me to justify them as wholly different characters.

 

I’m in a similar headspace with this guy. I don’t like having multiples of characters (not counting reformatted versions like Rodimus or Twincast or super Megatron) but I realllyyy want this guy as I adore animated, I think I may just have him as TFA Prowl that’s found his way into “my” universe

 

Could just use him as a brand new character with a new name.

I find it funny how Crashbar's head is not detachable in the way of Paleotrex even though the back of box shows it being detachable in the way of Paleotrex. Guess there were some last minute changes

 

I could, but I’m not going to, if anything I’d make G1 prowl the new character. I’m too connected to Animated prowl as a character to do that, and the design just screams TFA Prowl

 

I did a similar thing with Prime Universe Bulkhead, I just have him as a "G1" Bulkhead.
Now I'm waiting for a new Animated Universe Lugnut so I can have him as a "G1" Lugnut.

 

I doubt that, because the image shows the head on a ball peg. They took off the head, which has no modular abilites, but left the arms on the body. Why?

 

Alternate head that they were thinking about for the stock renders and forgot to focus on the renders themselves.

Pretty weird photography decision, if I'm being honest.

 

Animated Prowl is my second favorite version of Prowl but Animated came out just I was getting "too old" for Transformers, so I was pretty happy he was the first Animated character revisited in Legacy.

I have to say I think in terms of Deluxe Bike Bots, Arcee is a bit better in alt-mode and transformation but robot mode I'd give the slight edge to Prowl. Both are about comparable in terms of "G1ification" redesigns imo.
