Condensing behind spoiler as important to some but not all...

NC in US also has similar tax laws, though I am not a tax expert, and when I file my annual taxes via online service, it asks if you have made any online purchases from businesses not in NC or abroad. If I say yes, it asks if I have records of them and if any individual ones were over a certain dollar amount. I say no to both and it suggests the average amount spent and to pay tax on that, (which I do, in case audited for some odd reason, as I would have no idea, so I just cover mine). Supposedly, if you paid taxes to other states or countries (such as on vacation, etc.), you can list that and it is supposed to be applied and adjusted, but again that's too much to ask people to keep up with in my opinion.

Most US and large international sites collect your state sales tax and are supposed to handle that on the back side, unseen by buyer. For international, only the larger ones with a US presence would normally do that, with some exceptions. I know NC sales tax is listed on my Amazon.co.jp invoices, collected on outside US eBay purchases, and one of my former proxy companies in Japan charged it for the actual product, but not services... Many online companies in other US states collect taxes based on your state not theirs; there are some smaller ones that are exceptions or don't collect any, like these little Etsy and similar sellers; I don't know how they get away with not collecting it and I couldn't keep up with all that.

I know sales taxes vary by state, county, and city in NC, and some states do not charge any sales tax or vary in how applied, so it is a mess to be honest.

To make a very clumsy segway back to the toys... Should be only ~2-4 weeks (depending on seller and shipping) for those getting these from Japan!!! I'm getting excited. I really need to clear space for at least 1, ASAP!

Oh, so the US does have rules similar to those in Europe (we basically pay import taxes on anything from outside the EU if in the EU, and outside our country of residence if outside the EU). Usually they have a rule that customs can tell you to pay the import tax (to the postal carrier who then pay it to customs/the government) before they hand over your package, if the overseas shop can't file the taxes themselves. I think that doesn't get enforced in the US, hence the perception of no import tax.

Services normally don't fall under having to pay taxes, unless the service itself is performed in your country of residence (besides, they have different tax regulations and tariffs). So a middleman service is performed in Japan, but you don't get to pay taxes over it if Japan is not your home country.

Except that in the US toys fall under a customs exception, so it is just regular sales tax (which is at a state level, not national level), not specifically customs. Thus, can vary by receiver. I forget specifics at the moment, but a politician equated the attempt to put customs on toys to taxing Santa Clause and the bill failed.

Update: Looking for details on tax and customs laws on the internet is like looking the holy grail... However, that ruling may have changed several times and large shipments (like shipping containers) may no longer get exceptions depending on origination point, like China, (which makes me question Pitney-Bowels business model even more...)

When checking last year though, as long as classified correctly, there is no customs charge on smaller shipments of toys into the US, (as much as I would ever buy at once, anyway). Issues can arise due to misclassification, though. I think @puma or someone had that happen one time and mentioned it.

Oh, just a reminder if your first time. Amazon.co.jp usually sends out their domestic orders first, so up to 3-4 days can pass before you get the shipped notification and tracking details. Often it is already on a truck to the airport when I get the notice, and as usually DHL for US orders, arrive here at my home in 1-4 days after shipping, depending on time of arrival, route, and day of week...

I think it depends on the shipper... It seems like most my DHL shippments from Japan (so far ::fingers crossed:: )get preclearance while still in the air. They don't seem to sit in Chicago for more than an hour. Not true of other services, though...

So I'm just getting into diaclone, have my first shipment coming in the mail. For my own head cannon I was wondering how they scale with legends figures such as iron factory and new age. (If they scale a world where transformers and diaclone exist together and its waruda + decepticons against diaclone + autobots)

Would anyone be able to provide pictures of dianauts and legends figures? Preferably iron factory? Thanks!

For details on what scales with Dia-Naut pilots, the following thread may be more helpful as Diaclone is its own thing.
TFs just share vintage Diaclone as an ancestor... Hasbro is muddying the water naming unused by TF vintage Diaclone color schemes, some rereleased as eHobby exclusives previously, as a "Diaclone Universe" now...

Sorry. Not trying in any way to be contrary, just know a lot of great discussion has been had already on the other thread and you will probably get much better details from that group.

Alright I've got the second batch listed. This time it's DA-63 (Versrizer unit 2 core two pack) DA-55 (Versrizer unit 2) and two copies of DA-56 (Versrizer Unit 1 Shadow Calibur)

They generally don’t open up boxes unless the customs label or the box they use to ship the item in is sketchy (like food or chemical related). If the label says plastic toy, it’s usually and easy clear.

Dianauts are very close in scale/size to Titans Return Titan Masters and subsequent Prime Masters. Dianauts will crew any stations where Titan/Prime Masters would.

I was thinking the same thing, lol. Imagine due to the size of the packages, and amount of them, customs makes a point to require all the inspection agents to open and thoroughly inspect each Grand Dion, as they suspect its a large scale, organized smuggling trick, :p :p :p .

Then as a direct result from all of the agents intimately seeing the Grand Dions up close, with all its awesomeness being seen firsthand, new Diaclone collectors are converted into the fold en mass :D :D :D . The demand for anything Diaclone skyrockets instantly. Huge purchases for Grand Dions start pouring into suppliers, and supply cannot keep up with demand.

The age of Diaclone will have begun, you have been warned, :p :p :p

@Purple Heart and the 1/60 thread would be good resources. The legends stuff and TM stuff works for the most part. The Diaclone official stuff in general is going to have more details due to actual 1/60 scale. But that may not matter much on a display at distance.

the label said ‘plastic crack’ and that’s certainly a brick!

Is Grand Dion going to fit into luggage, or will I have to get it a plane ticket?

you’ll probably need to check it under the plane if you want the box. If you abandon the box, it could be a carry on.
