On the topic of Animated 2024 stuff, do we think Bee might have his Turbo Boosters?

Tidal Wave could be a small commander or a big leader. Depends on how the scale is going to work for him. But he also has to combine with Megatron. Titan class Tidal Wave seems too big.

 

I dont think one happening has any affect on the other, we're expecting 5 different Primes this year. But we know Animated Optimus is coming next year so I expect the Animated armor to get here first.

Not the full armor set no, but the Wingblade armor did and the Powermaster armor is just that with extra parts to round out a Leader package. It would also be a way to do a show accurate fire truck trailer which has never had a toy representation yet.

 

It seems more like they're going for character feel than any particular scale chart currently out there. Bits and pieces resemble ones here and there, but between Armada and Energon scales, I will be surprised if Titan Tidal Wave is on the docket.

I think they’re going to give him a faceplate. I have rarely seen an Optimus toy that has his mouth showing. I don’t even remember if there were any Optimus Prime figures that showed his mouth anyways.

I actually think they'll go with no faceplate. That's how Optimus was most of the time in that show, and it would be an easy way to differentiate him from the other Optimi in WFC/Legacy

They could but also Prime, Cyberverse, Earthspark and movie Optimus all have mouths but majority of their figures have faceplates. So I just get the feeling he will have a faceplate.

 

Yeah, especially since his design is otherwise super close to G1 Optimus (even more so with the G1ified aesthetic) I'd be surprised if the main release had the battle mask, though it's 100% gonna be an alternate head or vice versa.

 

Personally I'm hoping for a Titan Tidal Wave and a Commander Lugnut. Uni seems to be way too Autobot heavy out of the gate, and I can sacrifice Tidal Wave's combination with Megatron if it means getting Lugnut.

Lugnut won the hall of fame award, so surely he has to be getting something in development after that. A modern leader would be too small for him (but perfect for Animated Megatron), however Commander I think would be perfect, especially considering how wide he is.

Maybe they'll have two variants of the figure, one with a masked face and the other without the mask, like they did with SS-05 back in the day. But if there's only one variant, my money is on the mask. When it comes to Primes with mouths and a retractable mask, Hasbro always prioritizes the mask if it has to choose between the two, saving the mouth for a different tooling.

When it comes to the faux parts, I hope they won't. The original Voyager figure didn't use them and was all the better for it. I much preferred that mold to the Deluxe, which used faux parts for both the grille and the wheels. It also just wouldn't really be necessary. Like they're gonna need to change up the design for Legacy anyway, so there's no reason to stick to the show proportions for the grille between alt mode and robot mode.

I have no idea honestly, but it seems like they have every Optimus Prime figure at more or less the same exact size. We saw it with Armada Prime, so I'm assuming that Animated Prime will be the same height. I have the same prediction for Animated Megatron as I do with Armada Megatron; that they'll be large Leaders the size of TMII Megatron. The scale won't be perfect to the show, but they don't seem to be prioritizing show scale as much as they prioritize scaling it well with the rest of modern CHUG.

I don't think it's really possible to have the old Deluxe transformation scheme without the wheels ending up in the chest; that's the whole way the transformation worked. Also I never thought the Deluxe was as good as the Voyager, which gave him a much cleaner and more accurate look all around.

They're not going off of the game scale, but they're not going off of the old toy scale. They're going off of a mixture of the cartoon, toys, and mainly existing character heights for the rest of CHUG.

I'd imagine so. Besides his stingers, that's really the only accessory he had. Then again, if his stingers are separate pieces that will tab on upon flipping the hands into the arm (which they likely will be), that might be all that will be included as an accessory, since there's two of them.

Upon mentioning his stingers, I wonder how (or if) they'll be able to make his stingers combine together like they do in the show and on the original toy.

 

That’s true, and I hope they do that. The thing is I feel like this Optimus would have that faceplate as well for “battle” pics and what not. But if they did give him a mask feature, I wonder how they’d go about it.

Kinda baffled that I'm seeing people predict that Tidal Wave could end up being a large Leader if not a commander, and I could honestly not disagree more. I think Tidal Wave will be a Titan figure, not even because of the game but rather because of the following reasons:

1. Tidal Wave is just canonically enormous. Even if we look at him in terms of the cartoon, he's a big boy. He could be a Commander Class and scale fine, but honestly he'd scale better with the cartoon and as a game reference if he was Titan size:


2. Metroplex was also not quite Titan size in his show, and he got a Titan class figure, which ended up making him scale better all around. In the show, he was about Tidal Wave size. But he still got a Titan figure.


3. He turns into an aircraft carrier, and that means he's gonna be really big. It would also add a lot of play value to have him be huge, since it would mean that you could fit more Decepticon jets on him. You can't do that as much when he's Commander size.

4. I know that a lot of people have brought up that he'd need to be a little smaller to accommodate combining with Megatron, but honestly considering Optimus's combination gimmick wasn't all that accurate to the show, I don't see why Tidal Wave at Titan size couldn't have some compatibility with Megatron, just in a way that wouldn't require Tidal Wave to fully come apart. I could see him maybe having a piece or a weapon that could split apart/off from him and combine with Megatron to look accurate to the show without compromising Tidal Wave's size and requiring him to split apart. Frankly I much prefer him having a weird weapon thing that splits apart and combines with Megatron than doing what the original did, especially when the outcome isn't really impressive enough to warrant compromising Tidal Wave.

 

That’s exactly what I can see happening. Parts of him come off to combine with Megatron, replicating their show combination.

 

I wasn't thinking that, I just meant a full G1 homage with the white/purple/teal/grey paint jobs. I hope that's what we'd get, I like those colors a lot better. The G2 ones are just too blue.
