I did this almost by accident on first transformation, but was a touch overzealous and the sliding portion slid too far and it was a ballache to get things as they should be.

I didn't post it as I thought I'd just cocked up. Glad to know I'm not daft and it's a legit way to do it (but take the above exact steps and don't force things!)

This is true!!! Be VERY gentle and move things in small increments until you’re able to untab the section.

Mine arrived from Toy Dojo today, very well packed and the box is in great condition. Even after all the posts and information on here, I still was not prepared for the size of the box. Hope to be able to open this thing up later this weekend.

Weird... I paid my invoice with TCP, but whenever I try to look at my preorder, I get logged out.

Reverse transformation of the backpack was just goddam-awful.

My problem is just pulling the whole thing back down, because it almost always bumps the white piece behind his head. Also untabbing the red tabs on the bottom thrusters (considering you tabbed them in ALL the way and locked them in) is really hard as well.

I agree. For me, the first time transforming the backpack was stressful mainly because each time I thought I was doing it right, it seems there was actually a bit more I could expand it.

Now, plane to bot is quick. Slide wings up. Collapse the bottom first, then collapse the sides.

Bot to plane gave me trouble because I did not separate the pack enough to allow me to tuck the arms in. Now it makes sense.

Try this on those tabs with the little hook. Line them up but instead of instinctually trying to push it in, pull it up a bit and push then slide it down. Reverse to remove.

same thing happened to me when i was trying to fight his ankle rockers for his feet to sit flush with the table with his legs slightly widened, without luck. what stupid hip/ankle ratchets, id rather they not be ratcheted at all. i had to unscrew his foot, then take a hammer to set the pin back in so that the ratchet engages again.

so far his joint selection boggles my mind. hip/ankle ratchets are too wide to be practical in terms of posing, and elbows have zero ratchets and aren’t the tightest. smh

Guys, natural, relaxed pose is possible. You can see how-to in my review; https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/mp-57-skyfire-review.1244916/

i was trying to do exactly that, and it works IF you know how to move things around. for me, my left ankle keeps snapping back to the straight pose when i try to pivot it inwards one click - the right ankle that i had to fix clicks and locks just fine. i had to work around this by extending the ankle sliders just before it clicks into place so that there’s more room for the feet to pivot inwards. then after that, i was able to get a more natural a-stance. but that’s exactly the point - i SHOULDN’T have to dance around just to get a simple standing pose. you’re fighting against the ratchets which is frustrating. i just gave up and gave him a narrow stance with straight legs.

Your left ankle situation sounds like a defect. I would try to get it replaced really.
As for the rest; yeah I understand your point...and indeed I agree, it should basically work out of the box - but from my experience I only had to "massage" the hip ratchets for like...15 minutes and ever since I can get him back in to the relaxed A stance pose again even after transformation or any other pose.
I'm sorry to hear the figure is frustrating you - because he looks wonderful once you get him to cooperate, so to say.

the ankle ratchet works just fine. it’s just that when it’s one click in, the inner foot bumps against the white inner shin piece and the pressure causes it to snap back. if you extend the foot joint out, the ratchet works as expected. so i don’t believe that’s considered a defect that requires a replacement - it’s just a bad design.
