Same. But Im hoping Bandai might be making more of that kit than some others. It's been advertised like crazy, plus it took longer to go on order stop. At least this is what I'm telling myself. Right? If they can do it with SoCs, DX's, and everything else, why not kits too? I wonder if it's maybe because they're more often reissued, so it's never really completely "discontinued".
Just throwing it out there. Apparently Target has started carrying HG Aerials for 15.99$. $1 less than my usual online shops. Makes me wonder if they'll start getting all the other WFM kits like they did with battlogue kits.
Backpack and wings! Figured I'd start with the backpack but, oh yeah... I need to build the wings first because the joint parts need to be installed. I'll go back to painting this section in a bit. Now to the feathers. Getting the parts arranged for the left and right, then I can just mirror each step for the other. Those parts stuck to the tape stick are getting painted in pale blue-white to keep that color throughout. Then it's all duplicate assemblies.
That thing's just begging to get hauled out for every tabletop gaming session. "Knight takes pawn, your go." "I summon Exodia! OBLITERATE!"
I got all my waterslides (they're all marked G-Rework though the logo on the packet top looks like a variation of the DL 'S-I-M-P' boxes for some reason?) so I can finally get around to decalling up the GM Cannon w/ Rocket Bazooka, and from there FINALLY blackwash all my P-Bandai GMs, and then FINALLY put the visors on these damn bastards and call them done! I have so many kits that need to be blackwashed right now... I hope the chains either are independently formed (the technology for this exists since the chain for the mace-head on IBO Weapon Option Kit 3 is 100% plastic and pre-cast) or even have some kind of poseability in of themselves for dynamic poses. I also wonder how flexible he is. I have SIN-01 Gluttony on pre-order for next quarter and she comes with a light up Egyptian throne, so maybe he could fit into that. And if not that, then perhaps the Deathsaurus throne from the Haslab. He unironically would make a great tabletop 'miniature' for a table top RPG final boss.
The chains are definitely "real". They're shown to have a subtle hang and twist in them, that isn't possible in a static molded part, not with open links like that.
The TLX metal frames for Real Grade Nu Gundam and Hi Nu Gundam are coming in stock soon for gundamit.com Gonna take the plunge on the metal frame for Hi Nu Gundam and see how it is. Never built RG Hi Nu or any real grades before, so this will be interesting.
Linking the wings together, they really put a lot of work into this feature. Some added gray paint on the yellow portions to break up the colors. Where I stopped for the night. This completes the mirror opposite parts and from here it's all duplicate assemblies.
Messed up with the GM canon. Took my frustration at this kit being such a pain in the ass beyond all reason out on its box. So that's a semi-crumpled mess and I'm feeling better.
Decal setter betrayed me. Every single other decal I'd put Microsol on was dry, including that one, and then while re-assembling the stupid thing just so I didn't lose pieces, somehow a bit of it wasn't dry and stuck to my finger. Absolute fucking bullshit. I have the original sticker so that, plus another waterslide that got destroyed when it inexplicably slid to a bad position and refused to move, will be used on top of it. The arm is folded because it holds the bazooka so it'll be out of sight anyway, but the sheer amount of trouble this single dumbass HG is responsible for, without any due reason, makes me glad the now damaged box will be a reminder of things in the future.
and that is the MAIN reason i dont bother with any kind of decals... last time i tried i improvised some stuff for my MG 00, but i'm not going to do that again... *stares at that unbuilt megami kit in the backlog* nope.... clean look is the best!
It requires practice with waterslides and this is the first time I've EVER had something like this happen. I'll have the occasional waterslide screw up during the application process but I've never had the setter screw up like this.
Dang really sorry that happened - sounds super frustrating! I don’t use water slides too often but always feel like it’s more hassle than it’s worth when I do use them, like on the Nu VerKa. Hope your future builds turn out better! On another note, I built a few more kits with my kids over spring break. My 8yo finished his Age FX just in time for school to start and I helped my 5yo with the SD Aerial. The finished product looks good enough but I will never buy another regular SD figure. The color correcting stickers probably took 4x the time of the build itself so most of the time my 5yo was just sitting “patiently” while daddy struggled with a couple dozen stickers. Not fun.
OOF. I know that feeling. At least you have a backup solution. Alternatively, you can always paint over that area and blend it into the decal. It's how I salvaged the Repsol 962C. You can see how the white stripe has a "bandage" made out of decal scrap (I did this in the red area too) where the decals blistered and ripped. It didn't melt into place using softer/setter. Clearly the orange didn't line up, ripped, and shrank. Plus I didn't feel like doing the decals to fill in the edges. Copious amounts of sh** luck and mixing to get the orange and red right later: I still cannot believe I pulled it off. - Finishing the wings. The white parts that go on the red feathers needed another coat of paint and are drying overnight. Paper binder clips used to finish cementing the yellow parts together. Then I put a thin coat of my dark brown mix over these areas. The caps that fit on top have open space that you can see down through.
