Looks pretty similar to Powermaster Optimus / Super Ginrai, just with giant cog wheels attached. Lots of the same details / design cues on the torso and legs. Which design came first?

    These are wonderful.

also, interesting that the third design (turret one) seems to have major aspects of Thunderclash’s legs

Now that had me thinking if they could figure out a way to use elements of this design in some form of toy. Maybe in Takara's Diaclone reboot line or something.

for sure, I’d love to see some Thunderclash/ Action Master homages in Diaclone.

It’s concept art for a cancelled Optimus Prime toy that would have released in 1991. It shares design similarities with the Action Master Elites, which were transforming Action Masters being released in Europe around the same time.

Wow, so surreal to see an actual design from sort of the declining days of G1 that never became a toy. Unlike many, I really liked Action Masters back then. And I loved PMOP. So I would've been all over this. Of course, back then I thought Action Masters were just a brief fun digression until the "real" Transformers returned but alas... :lol  Well Turbomasters, but I don't think we got those here. Then G2 happened, of course. But it wasn't until BW that I really got to feel that TV show + full blown toys in tandem feeling again.

Part of me feels wistful remembering that decline of G1 and wondering where it had all gone lol. I definitely would've gotten this back then if it existed.

Hmm, I'm not an expert but something about these feels fishy. I guess they look like the same art style as the other AM concept art, but it also looks like something that could be sketched by an art-savvy scammer.

I guess they already sold so moot point, but I wonder how Heritage Auctions verifies stuff like this, if they even try.
