That's a decent idea I hadn't considered, but I recall the design team commenting at the start of Legacy that they considered ER Prime their definitive version of the G1 design, with no plans for a new mold anytime soon. With that knowledge (and assuming they're sticking to it), the only way I could see it happening is if the potential Magnus core bot is a retool of ER.

 

But they recently at SDCC said they would love to do a 86 Optimus Prime. And with the 40th anniversary I think one is coming next year.

 

Ah, fair enough. I'm curious to see how/if that pans out, then.

I always really liked Ultra Magnus too. I can't wait to see how this commander class version looks. So an October release, so what maybe a SDCC reveal? Oh man can't wait.

 

We have Armada and Cybertron updates, but how does everyone think Hasbro will tackle some faithful Energon updates?

 

by nixing the powerlinking gimmick most likely. apart from optimus, who would probably be a commander and retain the combining gimmick

 

i can't imagine the autobots having four modes, or if they do they'll be a higher size class which means they'll be spread around more.

i think characters like landmine and anyone who came with the armor pieces could work well since that 's basically what magnus and shockwave were. optimus and most of the cons i can see happening.

Honestly, I hope SS86 Ultra Magnus can at least stand up straight and tall, and not with an A stance please. I didn’t like that tbh.

I think I remember someone asking about the Energon updates on here, and supposedly they’re removing the Powerlinx gimmick. I’m now curious because if they do that, I wonder how Energon Prowl is going to look. But besides that, I’m hopeful the vehicle and robot modes will still be accurate to the cartoon, but stylized a bit like Armada Hot Shot.

 

Optimus will be a commander with his drones.

I could see most of the Autobots not having the combining gimmick.. maybe two of them as Deluxe+ voyagers to accommodate a better budget.

I’d love a Energon Scorponok. Especially in a Botcon G1 deco. Also since IDK if they will do a Marvel/IDW comics universe Scorponok anytime soon.

I think it would probably be better for the figures if they didn't have to worry about the Powerlinx gimmick. I know some fans will still want that feature though so I'm not sure how they'll handle that.

I know I'd like an updated Energon Hotshot and Rodimus. Always liked their designs from Energon.

 

Even if they did try, I’m sure it’ll compromise at least one of the modes in some way(lookin at you again, Prowl). Personally if they kicked off Energon representation with either Omega Supreme or Scorponok, I don’t know what I’d do but probably go in debt.

 

I’m wondering if that’s why they’ve been mostly avoiding it. So much of Energon’s identity, at least for the Autobots, was the powerlink gimmick, with a big selling point of the toys being how they could combine with each other. They’d do it constantly in the show, and much of the new mold Legacy stuff has been aimed at cartoon accuracy to the show abilities. Sure, Minicons weren’t included with the Armada universe stuff, and a Cyber Key wasn’t included with Override, but they all had their respective gimmicks worked in regardless (Hot Shot’s axelzooka, Starscream’s shoulder cannons, Override’s gun). Removing the powerlinking gimmick from the Energon guys would contradict the standard they have set up.

Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing an Energon Rodimus at Voyager size with good proportions because the powerlink gimmick is gone; same thing with a deluxe Energon Prowl. It would be nice to see these guys done well on their own without needing to combine them. But my guess is that they’d want to work the gimmick in somehow, and that’s the problem.

My guess is we’ll see one of three options:

1. Something similar to what we’re getting for Legacy RID, where we get retools that don’t work all that well but do what they need to (Prowl from WFC Mirage, Ironhide from WFC Hound, Megatron from WFC Galvatron, etc.) and then maybe later down the line we get a new mold for someone. If we get Armada Demolishor, Cyclonus, and/or Tidal Wave, they would likely be repainted into their Energon colors.

2. A combination similar to the Evolution Junkions, where they can still combine but in a different way.

3. New molds, but only for a few characters who didn’t combine (apart from Optimus Prime).

 

There have been whispers of the next Titan leaking out in the next couple of days. I’m creating this thread for future images and discussions of said leaked images and of her herself.
I have not seen it myself but I’ve been in talks to someone who has and here is the descriptions of which they gave:

•The Robot mode is female but not to feminine(so expect around the PotP elita female style).
•Robot is as tall as the Ark Titan. So they will scale great together! And the colors seems to be a mix of normal and light purple. But it could just be the photo
•The alt mode ship seems to be the G1 Design with elements of TFA somewhat in it(see photos as reference)
