Then they're pretty bad at business. They most definitely did not take the opportunity to maximize their revenue, they rather quite minimized it. They don't see second market revenues - that's all lost demand and dollars. If I was their manager, they'd be fired after the second time. That's just business.

There really is no excuse when the fandom can predict what will happen before the company pulling the levers of power does. You also have the continued negative experience which does affect sales. It can't be said enough - it was clearly the wrong decision.

Wrong decisions are made, we don't have to pretend that there just was no other way for things to go - that's never the case. Apparently according to some people here, it's cool to just keep making bad business decisions that are obvious, and then it's also cool to continue to argue on behalf of a company that if they wanted your defense, they would have bothered to earn it.

Yeah, I'm usually at work when things like this happen and I can can't really plan a bathroom break to pre-order a toy. Even if I could, there's my dignity to consider, haha. I would teach my kids not to do stuff like that at work or school, so I'm not going to. I know I can order Hound still from Walmart, but back before I went to strictly collecting vintage G1 again, they canceled several of my pre-orders. I tried it again with Hot Rod and Starscream, and I never got Hot Rod. At this point I'm just not ordering anything from Walmart even if it's just on principle because I'm more than likely just setting myself up for disappointment.

 

Nobody knows. I'm personally checking to see if the rest drops tomorrow since the con is two days.

 

FWIW, I also know that this is Walmart's thing (not really Hasbro Pulse's), and Walmart's exclusive events tend to have a LOT more to complain about than simply the timing.

 

I think Walmart in general does.

You mean to tell me you have to hit a button to add them to your cart, and yet another button to checkout. When will it end. Maybe next time ask alexa to order them. Looking outside at the frost on the ground, this is a hell of a lot easier than standing outside TRU for a half hour and speed walking back to the transformers section or heading to Walmart at midnight while they are stocking and hope they didn't go on their break or call in sick and that they happened to have gotten it. It is so daunting giving us a date, relative time, and what websites it will be available on. Time to toss on my Velcro strap shoes and start my day. My only qualm is that they have two Velcro straps on each one when one would be sufficient, it is just an unnecessary extra step and ruins my day half the time just thinking about it.

Think I have maybe missed 1 toy in 16 years of collecting, even with all these changing roadblocks (though I didn't order cybertron Jazz so I may miss that).

 

This is why I always laugh about people who propose boycotts. They can't even stop THEMSELVES from buying up the one or two figures they want let alone encourage anyone else to do it.

(Honestly it comes off as people trying to get others to stop so it's easier for them)

Yeah, Walmart is really the one that typically screws this up. Pulse goes live at a consistent time with the correct items and, aside from the *one* time delivers. And the only time they didn't with regard to Walmart exclusives was a second round of orders that were *also* cancelled by Walmart.

Hell, during the first wave of Velocitron the buffoons at Walmart sent me a Road Rocket instead of Cosmos despite them being different SKUs online. When I tried to return it they were like "we don't have a record of this purchase..." WELL YEAH BECAUSE I TOLD YOU YOU SENT ME THE WRONG ONE.

YMMV, but I've yet to see a Target exclusive that hasn't gone on sale, or even Clearance dating back to the Siege Micromasters. Mostly because Target is far more willing to put shit on sale throughout the year compared to Walmart.

It's like Walmart is too stubborn to admit when they screw up and shove blame on to the toy companies.

 

I can understand that, given what you've got going on and the other stuff. I highly expect this to be available again, and having been reminded by GB Blackrock of Walmart's past history, I kinda realize where them frustration comes from

 

And there are a lot that aren't. 7 am is awfully early to be already commuting for a great many people. An hour later would put it in probably just as many folks commute times. As I said, there's never going to be an "ideal time", but you know it's coming and can make arrangements based on your particular wants and situation. Not sure there's a better way to handle it than that. Certainly better than a surprise drop while you're not paying attention.

What's the difference in effort from marking a date and waking up in time to buy toys, and making a date, waking up in time, and get ready for a job interview? Actually having done the latter before it takes more effort. So is it unreasonable?

If you're talking about effort there's a lot of things that take a hell of a lot more effort. I guess they're unreasonable too? You could argue that it's "just toys" but what if you agreed to help someone else buy something? Unreasonable?

I guarantee you there are fewer people on the road at 8:00 than at 7:00, but we're splitting hairs. My point is not to propose "the ideal time," but simply to assert that some times actually are worse than others. It's not okay to throw "there's no ideal time" out as if all complaints about time are illegitimate.

 

I mean, is it not true? EVERY time is an inconvenient time for everyone. Retail drops just have to pick a time, that's asbest they can do.

Hot Wheels exclusives from RLC always drop around 0900 PST. I'm always driving at this time so I miss out. But that couldn't stop me from agreeing with a other member to help get one on my behalf. What's the point of being in a collector community if you don't engage with the community with help? I'll **ALWAYS** ask for help in advance if I feel it will be out of my power to get certain things. Like when I overslept Cosmos I asked and got many offers to help. I don't even consider myself a necessarily well liked person yet I still got people willing to take the time to help me acquire a Cosmos.

Time is time, but if you **REALLY** want something use your tools at your disposal. That's due diligence.

 

But is every possible time inconvenient for the same number of people? I don't think so. Some times are better for more people than others.
