I honestly think this is one of the few times a mid-season upgrade is an improvement in every capacity for me.

I only wish we saw more pics of it with the shield bits as armour. I think it looks awesome that way.

They were so close with the "zaku high mobility test type" origin p-bandai kit having the right colors and the "dom test type" origin MSD kit with almost all the right parts. Just put the two kits together, Bandai!

I bought the origin MSD one and figured I'd just add some purple to it and call it a day.

Buster rifle moving along. Assembled, accented (stains soon to be cleaned up), and some painted details started.

The batteries are getting painted next, and the shield is trimmed and ready too.

Found a new-to-me 30MM to knock out - Spinatio Knight! Maybe it's just kit hangover from recently doing Jupitive and Marsfour, but he definitely feels like a taller cousin to the core/planet Gundams; insamuch as it's a core robot with armor add-on parts.

The core Spinatio feels a bit less rickety than the Core Gundams, solely because there's no real transformation, just add-ons (I will basically never put the narrower bits back in the shoulders). Great articulation base, the armor doesn't encumber it too much save maybe around the hips, and he can go sword-and-board with the best of 'em. Two-handing the sword takes a bit of fiddling, but it absolutely works. Gunmetal and dark blue are always classy, and one detail that surprised me: little dude's got eyes under that visor, instead of the mono-camera lens! About the only nitpicks I have is I do wish the feet were bigger for stability; and that there were more hand backs so you don't have to swap the plates around if you change hands.

For a first stab at the chassis, not bad at all! A really different aesthetic than the chunkier, blockier Alto/'Nova frames, and I dig it. He can go tower over the LBX guys on my shelf, there's a couple more fantasy-looking fellas in my group of that line.

Love the Spinatio knight. Probably one of the best versions they've ever done. The armour is substantial and drastically alters the personality. I also highly recommend the Army Spec, and having the two side-by-side you'd almost forget they share a base.

It's almost hilarious that Bandai included those given they exist purely to give the bare Spinatio a more proportioned look... yet the Spinatio/Spinatia is not actually available as a plain base, and every iteration has shoulder armour of some kind. Bit of a pointless accessory.

My only gripe with the design. The feet are about a millimeter narrower than I'd prefer, or I wish Bandai designed "slippers" that could attach and bulk them up as well as style match to the rest of the knight armour.

Bandai's really quite the arse when it comes to this across all their kits.

I been a bit sick a few days. So nothing to do but stay inside, when the outside is clogged with snow, and build gunpla. The hardships we must endure.

So here is another MG Charmobile; the Gelgoog.

    Gelgoog2.jpg

Chunky old boy. All that chunk does limit articulation, but I think the end result is quite nice. Even comes with a bonus car, which is nice. The car has absolutely no color separation, which is sad.

    Gelgoog.jpg

So how many suits have Char had anyway? I got MG versions of his Zaku II,Gelgoog, Hyaki Shiku, Z`gok and the Sazabi.

How much time do you have, also non-canon or in his actual garage?

Non-Canon includes several repaints; including a Dom and the Gundam. There's also a little far flung into the future machine called the Gaia Gear his clone piloted, but again that was rendered non-canon.

Meanwhile on screen: Zaku I, Zaku II, Gelgoog, Z-Gok, Zeong, Rick Dias, Hyaku Shiki, and Sazabi.

Alternate canon: Nightingale instead of Sazabi.

Decided to go a bit old school and picked up the MG God Gundam. I remember building it when it first came out and loving it, rubber hands aside. Looking forward to doing a much better build of it this time around.

The legs are mostly printed, and I gave the black parts a dusting of primer to highlight the detail:

Also got to work on figuring out a seated pilot:
    PXL_20230315_201219075.MP-01.jpeg

I managed to find a Gundam MkII cockpit on thingiverse, so I chopped that down and hacked Trowa's limbs into place:

He's in there deep enough that I'll need to install an LED in the chest cavity to make him visible though. PXL_20230315_200926325-01.jpeg

The wife and I have been remodeling her mom and dad’s old house (This place is a nightmare, it took me a month to rewire the damn pantry). While I’ve been putting together some 1:1 scale cabinets for the pantry, I’ve managed to build a few robots too. 3781A40F-2889-4AD8-9931-B178638B0418.jpeg
Mostly high grades and early real grades with one master grade thrown into the mix. I know those early real grades get a bad rap, but I absolutely love them. There’s just something about those b runners that makes me oh so happy.
Anyway I got some packages today! A1134EA1-C924-4462-866E-016BAA90A3B6.jpeg
As you can see I went a little crazy with real grades. Also, I included my flexi Godzilla’s that I printed because I think they’re awesome. We’ll I’m off to check on my Enterprise-A print and paint more damn cabinets.

Finishing the rifle, and got the shield put together quickly. Some minor bit of paint applied, pale blue-white on the triangle at the peak and at the folded edge on the lower end.

    20230315_201713.jpg

Wasn't fun though, first attempt at putting the upper portion together, the gray vent on one side got bent over and prying it apart almost wrecked the hinge point.

Then, I almost forgot to install the track piece for storing the beam saber.

    20230315_233825.jpg

While the body of the rifle is done, the batteries are painted and drying for the night.
