I found a reputable seller on ebay where I could get this for $101 shipped. I currently have the Cubex Huffer on my shelf (with paint that held up!) Would Rig mostly be a recommended figure?

Huff was my first ever 3P figure (paint unfortunately flaked on mine), and I say without hesitation that Rig was an upgrade in almost every way. Huff will still fit better if you've got a collection centered around the MP10/Hasui aesthetic, but if you're going toon accurate, it's Rig, no competition. Articulation isn't wild but does everything I need it to, the transformation is fun but not too fiddly, and he's almost kibble free. The only thing I don't like is the metallic paint- it looks good in a vacuum, but stands out like a sore thumb on the shelf because of it.

Didn't they flake out and stop shipping figures or something? I think there's a negative thread floating around...

No negative experiences here - I just received my fourth FT figure from Terry's just last week (Tesla). They're on par with ShowZ IMO.

Rig is great. Best FT minibot transformation yet, super presence, etc.

I'm not sure on that, I just got my Rig today so it wasn't an issue with my order.

I swear, I must have the only Cubex Huff without flaking. I knew about the issue before getting mine, so I NEVER touched any of the grey areas. I wonder if that's why it stayed fine.

So I think the only aesthetic thing really bothering me is the blue plastic arm of the windshield going down the middle of his back. Is it possible to paint it orange without having any other effect on vehicle mode, and if so has anyone found a decent Orange that matches this figure?

I took the plunge with Terry's, can't beat $75 shipped. Here's hoping the transaction goes well!

Mine is a piece of shit and Cubex/Badcube owe me replacement chest and thighs since 2014. Oh well, Rig is lightyears ahead anyway.

Both are good and fill different slots. And I'm definitely keeping them both!

Huff has a very G1-toy feel to him.

Rig is rather good for recent FT figures. He has character, and is interesting and fun!

I feel like this was worth the effort. It's not perfect, I had a problem with my brush on one of the coats, but it kinda fixes the one issue I had with this figure. I still don't get why they didn't paint that armature orange. Before and after:

Profit, I'd imagine. Cheaper to leave it unpainted, aesthetics be damned. Although I guess there's an argument for paint rub.

Fair play to you. Not sure FT imagined anyone was displaying him like that though.
