I'm pretty confident that bumblebee and this new movie are a new rebooted continuity. I know bumblebee was meant to be a sequel but they threw in a lot of stuff post (Cybertron scene and rendezvous with OP) to turn it into a reboot. I guess reboot should be used singular as there's only been one, but I'm using it here as an umbrella term for the new universe that these movies take place in

Coin toss in my opinion. While fans here are split an their opinions, mainstream attention seems to be doing decent. Trailer #1 broke the record as most viewed trailer in 24 hours, which is crazy considering the hype that was leading up to both avengers endgame and spiderman nwh. The cast itself is full of a lot more mainstream names (bayverse human leads were always famous, but voice actors weren't as known). If this movie does well critically, or if it's entertaining enough, then it'll do well and we'll get our animated Cybertron movie next year

Yeah, it's Martini racing. This colour scheme has been used on loads of competition cars over the years. I think Porsche is probably the most common cars to see it on, but also Lancia and Alfa Romeo off the top of my head. I'm sure there's been other brands too.

 

Good to know. When I see that scheme on a Porsche I just think "Jazz" lol, for a moment I thought it could be him in another Transformers project. What a pity. But now I know how good Jazz would be on modern Porsches

I think the movie will do just fine. Here on the site we are but a fraction of the possible audience that will see this movie.
I believe it will do well enough to get the next two movies in this new trilogy. If it makes like 600-700+ milion especially if it gets a china release.

 

My biggest worry is that I hope it still follows the "Bumblebee" model for storytelling--let the Bots have their character moments, have plentiful speaking robots, use the characters shown/promised in the trailer consistently and satisfyingly throughout the film...

I know this new director is a young guy, and rumors that some bots like Cheetor won't even have voice actors/speaking parts has me worried that Bay/Lorenzo have hijacked this and taken it back to the BS from the first era of films where they show a lot of shit in the trailers, the parts we want to see amount to maybe 5-10 min of the whole film, half the bot roster is mute cannon fodder, and then most of the film is annoying human hijinks that no Transformers fan going to see a film called Transformers gives a shit about...

So as long as the new crew (Autobot, Maximal and Terrorcon) all feel fairly fleshed out and there's enough action and drama between the bot characters... then I think we might have a solid hit here.

 

Amidst all of the hype somehow it gets missed that Lorenzo is also the same producer who OK-ed Snake eyes: Origins. I get that he's part of the brain trust who makes certain more of these movies get produced- and ultimately you can't win them all- but Transformers seems to be his only franchise that works. Please Paramount, get another team together for a (good) GI Joe movie. With Classified doing well and a resurgence in interest overall due to the movie (whether it failed or not) and figures, now is the time to take another look at the Joe franchise on screen.

The colors we associate with some G1 characters are very iconic race liveries. Here's Martini Racing (Jazz) on a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, and Alitalia Airlines (Wheeljack) On a Lancia Stratos HF.

SnakeEyes was the biggest Bullshit I have ever seen.
I wanted G.I. Joe 3. I liked the Storm Shadow Actor from
Movie 1 and 2 A LOT. Wanted to see more of that.
Instead we get that Bullshit SnakeEyes, where I lost
all Interest in the Storm Shadow Character.
