What film is that? I'm guessing the statement you're making, but the context is completely lost on me.
The Cinderella movie from 1997. Disney made it. The King and Queen are different ethnicities and had a child of yet another different ethnicity. Good ole 90's tv-movie Disney.
Or, you know, any Broadway show but specifically the OBC cast of Disney's The Little Mermaid with Norm Lewis as Triton and Sierra Bogges as Ariel. Not exactly new territory here But sure, "genetics" is a big concern in the mermaid fantasy

I guess at this point, photo-realistic designs of cartoon animals are always going to end up a disappointment, especially with the lack of human expression. Look at the Jungle Book, both the Jon Favreau and Andy Serkis adaptations (images below to compare). Both used talking animals that had just enough human expression to work out. SHER KHAN BALOO Favreau deciding to go hyper-real with the Lion King was a bad error of judgement IMO, with the concept art giving a less realistic but more faithful appearance. BUT, faithful designs won't make things better either. Right, Yogi Bear? So it's a tricky business, making designs that work in real life but please everyone. But as Transformer fans, I think we already know that. I have to wonder, what if Spongebob Squarepants gets the texture of a live-action sea sponge?
I liked how in “Pressure”, SpongeBob, Patrick and Mr. Krabs came to dry land as props of an actual kitchen sponge, starfish, and crab. Then Squidward came up as a homunculus with tentacles. Favreau’s Shere Khan was terrifying and the other animals were expressive even though they didn’t have a ton of facial expressions. Maybe it’s also because of the approach, Favreau wasn’t trying to make an animated musical into a hyper realistic nature documentary so the audience was able to suspend their disbelief more for the characters. And it doesn’t help that Lion King was line for line, so their cast was given nothing to work with. And that loses Jungle Book’s ability to make the characters expressive with limited-no expressions. We still need to see Sebastian and Flounder in full motion. But at least they are only two characters and the rest are played by human actors. Flotsam and Jetsam are supposed to be creepy so they don’t need to be quite as expressive as Sebastian and Flounder. Scuttle, well, Pinocchio already showed you can make a perfectly fine CGI seagull.
Not bad! People are complaining about the cgi, but I feel like it gives it a very fantastical charm to it. Halle's singing is amazing, no questions asked.
Like I’ve been saying, it actually has color and light. It’s not The Lion King draining all the life from it. Halle is gonna kill it for sure.
I really hope this movie succeeds. Despite the negative feedback. After hearing Disney won a Razzie recently, I feel really bad for the company.
I'm sorry, but this just isn't working for me. It still looks like it's designed to be an animated movie... but executed in live action. And it just don't work. Animated films are designed for animation. Want to do a live action film? The scrap everything from the animated film and start over from scratch and design it to be live action.
