Sure, the ones from the Nova upgrade kit for sure work, but that's $50+ for a new kit just for the ratchets, and as much as I like it, I remember them being particularly difficult to install.

No-no, it's missunderstanding. I don't have that kit yet, but willing to buy. Just wanted to know, should I replace Prime's ratchets with those from the kit or leave it as is.

If your going to install the entire kit, absolutely. If you just want the kit only for the ratchet upgrades, then no, 50 dollar cost is not worth it.

    This.

The ratchets from that kit are icing on the cake if you're installing the whole kit.

I got the regular magnus upgrade kit over a year ago when it was like $15 but still haven't installed it, as I'm holding out for a good alternative to the ratchets. Crossing my fingers.

The worst part of installing the kit was the crappy screws that Hasbro used. The screws are too soft and easy to strip.

Completely agree. Lucky I had some leftover screws from a previous project because the stock ones were dead before they came all the way out.

They're easy to strip if you use the wrong screwdriver, as they'll drill into the screw head.

After using a proper screwdriver, I haven't stripped a screw head since, even after 20-30 times for the same screw. I put this in a lot of my tutorials:

File off the pointy tip of a Philips #0 screwdriver with a metal rasp or low grit sandpaper. Not much material needs to come off. This will allow the screwdriver to seat properly into Hastak screws. Left is what the screwdriver should look like; right is before modifying.

Agreed! Slightly flatter tiny Phillips made the screws easy, they give you fresh hardware. Be careful to push the pins the same way (direction) they do in the videos only one end of the pin is gripped and marred.

Decided to pull the trigger on this set. If he does go into combined mode ever I am going to customize 2 Trailbreakers for the Legs and use Ricochet for the arms.

From everyone's experience it sounds like it is a good thing I have a bin of mini screws in every size needed for computers and Transformers lol I'm just going to toss the Hasbro screws as I remove them

I remember Nova Prime in comics as mainly white transformer:

So I'm thinking about white limbs. Could be 2 KO Alpha Bravos for legs and 2 KO Grooves for hands. And white Perfect Effect's KO kit for wrists and feet.
Saw on the web that kind of combiner:

    White doesn't match, I think.

I have done 4 Ricochets and currently have him with 2 trailbreakers as legs and 2 Ricochets as arms. I am working now on a shelf just for the snd kits (magnus, nova, nemesis and optimus) because in the end they just look better in robot mode!

Not sure if this has been covered yet but Nonnef recently re-released the ratchet upgrade for CW figures.
I ordered a couple of sets in January from G-Works.

I like these as combiners but I love them on their own.
