Only one WIP pic for now since i was only able to do alittle progress before i had to leave for work, more progress tonight. Most of the details/paint work i'm going off of trailer screenshots and the CGI render of Cheetor's robot mode from the boxart, so i'm pretty much winging the rest.
Update: Added more silver/gunmetal details to robot mode and painted up his weapons, I'm mainly focusing on robot mode for now as i have a couple tricks up my sleeve to improve the beast mode. More to come!
Update: As of right now until i can get more screenshots/better images of Cheetor's robot mode i'm going ahead and calling it done for now, just some touchups needed in the morning. I added silver to the back of the thighs, some gunmetal accents on his shins and finished up the robot mode cheetah pattern, beast mode is next!
Update: I'm starting beast mode with Cheetor's head and working my way down the rest of the figure in sections, I started by removing the entire top row of teeth as they didn't feel right to me and proceeded to make the upper lips more feline-like by adding that little split between them, after that i've added the fangs peaking out of his upper lip as seen in the trailer and on the ROTB mainline figure, then added gunmetal accents in the mouth and elsewhere plus cheetah spots where they need to be, more to come!
Of course! sorry for the delay in replies. Every paint used on Cheetor is pictured here: As for the golden brass basecoat i'm using this, it's extremely fume-heavy so using a well-ventilated area and a mask/resperator are strongly recommended.
I thought the exact same thing i think the design team had meant to give the beast face a snarling or defensive expression but it didn't look very good to me
Update: it's been a very productive couple days, i decided to try something to help add more accuracy, faux fur! i added more pronounced hackles (the technical name for the longer strip of fur that extends from the back of the head to past the shoulders) which were missing sculpt-wise from the figure and also put faux fur on the arm plates that swing behind the beast front legs, i'll be working on the fur for the ribcage and the small strips on the back later. I've also added most of the beast mode cheetah spots on the right side and back sections then detailed up his...well...tail. But it doesn't stop there, while i had the beast head seperated from the figure discovered there's a decent bit of extra articulation that gets unused due to how the neck and head are designed, i went ahead and fixed all that so now he's far more expressive in beast mode! these are just quick shots, i'll be adding more emotive ones plus a tutorial on how to add that extra articulation once i'm finished. Pretty much at the home stretch now!
Mini-update: After re-watching the trailer i noticed that the hackles on cheetor's beast mode actually cover more of the top of the neck plating than i had made originally, so i've fixed that, still need to be trimmed to match the contour of said neck plating. I'm sorry it's not a super huge update but work has been super busy and i only had about an hour to squeeze in some time to work on this. Hopefully i'll have more progress or even have this finished by this weekend.
