OK, got Velocitron Scourge a while ago. We have already discussed the deco issue. Personally, I like it, it kinda goes for a mix between the classic deco and Nemesis Prime toys.



Gotta say, this mold is super fun with a pretty clever transformation. The decision to go for fixed shoulders to give more movement for the arms was right for me. You can pose it almost like a Gundam!

Well, while I do like the regular deco of this release, there's no way I would lose a chance to make him look more like the only true Black Convoy-sama. Toyhax came to the rescue with the right Reprolabels set. Here's a comparison with one side without stickers and one side with stickers and next to WFC Nemesis Prime and Legends EX Black Convoy. We can see clearly the route Hasbro took for deco.



Once applied, just the chest stickers make a big difference. I chose not to apply all of them but the result is fantastic.




I undestand that deisgners did what they could with budget limitations. I'm so glad we have options. Now this is the better update for a modern Black Convoy in my collection, since it beats the cool Takara Legends Black Convoy in the poseability department and the design is closer to the original. Enjoy!

 

THose stickers are such a dramatic improvement. It’s kind of cool how the result is a hybrid of RiD Scourge and Destructicon Scourge.

But the Toyhax set still should not have been necessary to make the figure actually look like the intended character. I didn’t even open my G2 Nemesis Prime until Toyhax released the set.

I totally agree with you.

Having said that, I'm just glad to see SOMEthing from CR/RID. Black Convoy/NP/Scourge being the exception for various reasons. I mean, maybe I'm in the minority, but I even loved the nods Siege/ER Ultra Magus has to CR/RID Magnus.

We just need more mainline/Masterpiece CR/RID love and appreciation from Hasbro and TakaraTomy.

 

Scourge (RID) - Transformers Wiki

Hey folks, figured this was the best place to ask. Anyone have any more information on these apparent variants of the US release of Scourge? First I've ever come across them and unfortunately the wiki doesn't have any pics or external links to some. First I'm reading about them.

 

I may ask some of my friends around here.

 

It’s pretty vague at this point, but I feel like I do have a memory of hearing about the pink-translucent scourges showing up initially. (How in the hell is that 20+ years ago???)

 

To be honest, I don't recall that neither that TFWiki entry. In any case, back in the day I had a collector's store with some friends here in Peru and we imported like a dozen RID Scourges, some were bought at physical stores and shipped but I'm pretty sure 2 o 3 were ordered online. I will try to track down those.

 

Might have been a case like with the TR Chromedomes with the Takara head where it was a factory mistake (or in this case in most likelihood it would have been using up some already cast pieces?)

 

I've been looking through pictures online and I've found evidence of the "missing finger paint" variant. I'm away from my own collection to check which versions my two RID Scourges are

Nothing yet about the "early" release with the pink plastic, appreciate any legwork other people put in to verify this!

I also looked back through the wiki edits and found the users who added the info to the page, so might reach out to them and see what they might know/remember

 

I was unaware of such a variant. I bought mine at a toy show from a guy who bought it at the Toys 'R' Us I went to that morning to get one.

 

Well I was able to track down a copy missing the bottom finger paint for sale. I've looked and found a few others in pictures/videos online so it does look like a variant. You learn something new every day!

Really curious about the "early" variant though with the pink plastic. If anyone finds anything about that do share!

 

I can't wait for the new Tow-Line! Even though he was in less than a handful of episodes, I feel he was one of the funnier characters, at least in Car Robots. I loved how he took parking violations to the extreme!

Wonder if this means we might get Hoist/Hubcap/RM Wreckerhook in the next year or two
