I was a little skeptical seeing the pictures yesterday, but now I'm covertly saving $80-$100 extra bucks for this guy. I mean... this is real? Like, Hasbro made this? Really?

 

Popular opinion: Good lord, this is turning into an absolute home run for the mainline. Legacy Armada Prime looks like a walking love letter to all those that grew up with the show and'll probably be the best Commander to date if pictures are any indication. I mean, it genuinely looks like it just waltzed off the screen in some of these photos AND has modern articulation. It also probably doesn't rely on an IR gimmick in any way, shape or form  

Unpopular opinion: This toy's existence also does nothing to negate my affection for the Fans Hobby version. While the smaller robot admittedly has some mild proportional issues, I still think they did a fantastic job of putting their own spin on the Armada Prime design without trying to re-invent the wheel. It honestly doesn't surprise me in the least that some folks still find Naval Commander's aesthetics more appealing even after the reveals (the price, of course, is a whole different story).

 

What was the updated commander price?

finding the smaller bot looking pretty bad, particularly compared to the old Takara grey photo that seemed to solve many of Armada Prime's design issues.

this guy (the smaller bot)... the heads too big, the shoulders too high, grill too flat/lacking in detail to break up the chest, and legs seem short/thick... just really off proportions-wise.

nothings actually that terrible, but the collective of all the "off" bits make the whole look really lacking to me.

The super mode on the other hand is looking pretty great minus the saggy grey diaper between his legs.

Well I think he looks amazing. I just really hope we get a Powerlinx version as that's my favourite colour scheme for Armada Prime.
