I had no idea there was even a breakage issue on MP57. I’ve got him on order, but it’s nice knowing there’s an option if the copy I get ever breaks.
Now this is just silly. I get it though. This thing will probably be cheaper and have better outward leg ratchets. But the thing I don’t get is when people wish they’d change the face and even the proportions of MP-57… Like if Takara Tomy’s cartoon accuracy doesn’t mean anything to you, just stay with Phoenix. It was rumoured that a ko company had the cad files shortly after Takara announced and could have released before Takara even but that to avoid them coming for them big time they needed to wait until Takara released theirs officially. No surprise in this, just that it will be October as was thinking summer
If they make improvements I might pick this up. Cancelled my official preorder as the face is horrible and honestly I think the NA figure nails it, with FT's effort covering him at MP scale. Just feels like Takara left this so late into the game it almost wasn't worth bothering.
Jetfire is one of those that I cannot excuse a terrible alt mode. As the G1 toy is so loved and cherished it represents so much of the character to me that I cannot overlook the flaws at the MP scale.
Too fast. They should let Takara make their money and not eat their lunch while working on improvements. And he needs them!
Assuming they even hit the release date, thats 7 or 8 months away. That feels pretty typical for KO releases these days. It’s more that someone leaked the news that it was coming. If this appeared without fanfare in October, no-one would blink an eye.
I have bought the official one, but I will also buy a KO with improvements, I hope they fix the lateral articulation of the legs.
Is your PO prepaid? Is your supplier credible? If so you have nothing to worry about. Sf so big that they are saving the cost via slow shipping. Not them. In my case I was expecting March then behold! Just recomputing my combined cost and creds with my other newly received Shf Yor and Magnificus. Earliest would be next Monday. These KOs wouldn't *have* to exist if the QC (as well as the overall production quality, mind you) was better and the prices were lower/far more affordable. These KOs exist because they willfully price people out of them, and the quality is all over the board. These should not be breaking in the box at asking price they're going for. This? Hound's shins? C'mon. There's no excusing that away. These KOs will continue to get it right for Takara-Tomy because they're not willing to do it themselves. Shame on them. Heck, let's not forget Megatron and Infinite Transformation's resilient paint. (Yes, I know about the yellowing and color problems, but they're at least on the right track.) You can't even transform the official without your fingers looking like they went to some kind of rave and had a much better time than you did, last night. "OONTS OONTS!" your fingers say, but your body says "WTF is wrong with my knees and back? Why do they hurt just because I breathe?" We're at a point, now, where Takara-Tomy should be dominating this particular market and the KO makers should be quaking in their boots, afraid of them. Instead, they're all "we can do better" and Takara-Tomy's all "Yeah? Well, we don't care. We make suckers out of these people and will continue to do so." and that's a shame.
There hasn’t been a horrible blunder with MP QC since hound. Sure some parts are fragile, but if you don’t force it, those pieces won’t break (like with the tab for sky fire). The price argument I don’t get. For about the same price phoenix is going around for or even less, you get way more accessories than phoenix as well as more playability. Sure the proportions might not be for everyone, but for the people this is for, it’s not a problem. Even though I like supporting the official releases, I might bite on this due to the money being tight atm.
