what is with PG's arms? they are sooooo short, like T-rex arms to me. opinions for these guys:
Poweglide- bot mode is bland. alt is great.
Onslaught- bot mode great, alt mode bland.
i am on the fence with both. (may break down and get PG for kicks, though.)
but you just wait- Cosmos will absolutely ROCK! talking Metallica/KISS/AC-DC rocks.
    lol.

Onslaught looks so much better in vehicle mode without that stupid shield on top of his turret. I'm actually really digging both of these.

Henkei wave one proves you wrong.

Bumblebee looks like a stale lemon, Starscream is okay I guess, Grimlock has randomass chrome on his legs/neck, Megatron's chrome is place on too randomly, and Prime is just dull without the extra brightness from the Hasbro version.
Only saving grace for that line IMO is Astrotrain, b/c he's a BAMF in gray.

Bring on the Mega-Octane themed repaints.

I was looking at the pictures of Onslaught again, and, is it just me or does he apear to have siny/metalicy plastic similar to the platic used for the Movie Premium figures? It actually looks pretty good, imo. Honestly, I prefer the Habro versions of the Classics 1.0 figures, and if the trend of slavish G1 decoes, and randome use of chrome, continues with the Takara versions of these figures, I'll be sticking with the Hasbro one's. There are however two thinges that I can think of, atm, that bother me about Powerglide. 1. His bot-mode has most of it's mass in the torso (not sure how easy he will be to pose). 2. the button to activate his lights and sounds gimmick in alt-mode is extremely obviousley a button. I would have prefered something that blended into his alt-mode better. I'll still be getting him, as those two things aren't big enough for me to dislike him.

Last couple of iterations, mega/voyager and ultra classes were pretty much the same size, just that ultra has electronics.

Now that we're getting more "accurate" looking pictures, without all the hand-painted Hasbro photoshop glamour, I'm less enthusiastic about these figures certainly. I still like them... but now I'm thinking more clearly about them, once the novelty and thrill has worn off.

I tend to disagree. Most Ultras are still decidedly larger than Voyagers (add to that the tendency for Voyager figures to get smaller every year). In most cases though, the extra bulk and electronic features are not enough added appeal for me.

And yeah... there is NO reason for these to be Ultras. They could have just as easily been Voyagers... in fact better as Voyagers. As Ultras, they end up being in that awkward scale that makes it hard to match them with other figures (Energon Ironhide and Cliffjumper anyone?).

Also, it just makes me less able to justify the extra cost ($40 for Ultras in Canada). More likely I'll end up waiting for sales or secondary market on Ebay.

But... E. Ironhide and Cliffjumper were Voyagers ("Mega Class", at that time).

The Ultras ("Command Class" for Energon, IIRC) were Ultra Magnus, Landmine, Bulkhead, Scorponok, and Tidal Wave. And I really thought all those toys were appropriate sizes.

I'm still just not feeling Powerglide, but I'm really digging the updated, greyish color scheme on Onslaught.

Those ones were all fairly appropriate because they all depicted characters that should be rather large (except Bulkhead, whose bulk was mostly his drone robot add-on). In the case of Classics, all three of the announced Ultras are characters that would be better suited to Voyager status.

I believe you may be mistaken about the sizes... E.Ironhide and Cliffjumper both came in larger packaging as I recall... guys like Shockblast, Mirage/Dreadwing, and I believe Wingsaber would have been the Voyager-equivalents (although Voyager as a class name was introduced in Cybertron, was it not?). It would seem that Energon had three price points between Deluxe and Leader instead of the two we have now...

Yeah... but my point was that Onslaught, Powerglide and Silverbolt should all have been Voyagers. Jetfire, Prime, Megatron... even Grimlock would have been credible Ultras. It just feels like the size classes and the line-ups for Classics and 2.0 ideally should have been reversed.

Heh... just wait. The '09 wave Voyagers will be Omega Supreme, Trypticon and Wheelie. ;)

Hey- I'd settle for Trypticon getting remade - I don't care about the size.

And Omega will likely be Hasbro's next Supreme-class - I'll go ahead and guess it'll show up in Q1 of next year. (It can't be Q2-Q4, simply because of the movie line showing up. They'll want a supreme there - and Q4 is arguably too late to make Omega)
