I can appreciate a new review as much as anyone else, especially Sean's, but can these stop being posted on the front page? They're not really news and I think if people are really interested in Sean's reviews then they are already subscribed to him on YT. Sorry if this sounds like ranting, it's just a pet peeve since these really aren't news. Regarding the actual review: Very nice. Snarl looks like a fun figure, but he seems awful short for a deluxe. I hope Sentinel isn't shorter than Snarl like botcon attendees kept saying.
he'll always be slag in my mind...and i can't wait to get him...i wish i had the money to blow on these early figures so i could have them now...i cant stand this wait...nice little review though... only thing i wonder about is why you do them in almost on long shot each time? wouldnt it be better to do little bits and edit them together using iMovie or something? just seems like we'd get a better review over all...and then no one would every know you called G1 slag animated slag...
awsome all the dinobots so far have had some sort of pop out flames which is cool i thought that snarl would be my least favorite but now im not so sure
Why did you compare him to G1 Slag instead of Snarl? Or compare both? I don't think this guy was meant to be Slag. Think of it, the rear beast legs for arms, the tail split on the back, the body colour, the horns on the head... it all just says Snarl to me. Albeit Snarl with Slag's alt mode. Maybe they made him a triceratops (sp? lol, it's late) because they, along with Pterodactyls and T-rex's, are the most popular/well known dinosaurs. He's Snarl, to me if nobody else besides Hasbro and CN.
I think it's supposed to look like it's on fire. Also, if you notice it's actually not solid, but translucent.
I think it could be. About the club, it had black on it on the out-of-package sample at Botcon. But not on the one in-package. Which one's the final version?
Solid = all one color = lame. I believe that the retail version will have brown in it like Grimlocks sword. Which will look 10 times better.
Now that I've seen him closer, I actually like him. If the club doesnt have some black on it, I will probably paint it.
maybe once they realized they couldn't get the name Slag they designed the Triceratops with snarl like elements? I for one will be calling him Slargl.
Unlikely, but who knows? As for my thoughts on the fig itself, I'm torn. I want to get them all, but he reallly is short in both modes.I wish he was taller, like he had some neat expanding trick during transformation.
I dunno, I think I'm dissapointed. I wish they were really more like the '84 versions, well maybe they will re-tool them in the new universe line and not do any repaints.
At Botcon, the writers of the show mentioned early on they had issues with TV standards not liking scripts where the characters said "slag" as a curse. It wasn't until someone, most likely Marty Isenberg, remembered they did it all the time on the Beast Wars shows that they were able to get it through. With that in mind, perhaps the same issue also affected the toy? As far as the robot mode goes, I'm pretty sure it was worked out long before the name was settled on, probably more to fit the idea of this being a "big strong dumb robot" though I must admit the shoulders are very G1 Snarl. Personally though I think the overall design is much more exciting than a faithful recreation of G1 Slag could ever be. G1 Slag basically was the Triceratops stood on its back legs with its mouth open. His Animated cousin has a very clever transformation that I'm still getting my head around. I know which one I like more!
