No, it's that mentality that keeps you single. I can't imagine that every girl out there only cares about looks. I'm sure they exist, but I've never run into anyone like that after high school.
From my experience (in my part of the world), it would be great to share the same interest with your partner. Another word of warning is…be clear where each one’s financial obligations lie.
for anyone that read anything i said, yeah, i dont consider myself ugly, im...average i guess, but im annoying as hell, for anyone, and has happened so much, being abandoned by everyone i have ever considered my friend except for a few, and i just lost all the little confidence i ever had, now, im nearing 33, and i can count my friends in a single hand, how can i expect to find a partner if i cant even find people willing to stand by my side and its not something happening just now, since i started wanting to be with a girl, you know, puberty and all of that, i have always been rejected, every, single, time, even here in the tfw forums i have found it difficult to make "friends" although im glad one of my best friends comes from here there arent many women interested in transformers, scifi(other than the usual star treks and wars), dinosaurs, anime, or ARTHROPODS(bugs/insects/crustaceans/arthropods) here in my country, and even if there were(and probably there are) im someone... sorry, nobody cares about that, its just me ranting about my bad luck
A friend of mine from my old unit was on a first date with someone he met on a dating app. One of the first questions she asked was what his credit score was. Looks is a close second, I'd say. Women will date a wallet FAR faster than they'll date a profile pic.
I've read that things like that (asking for a credit score) are the new red flags for dating these days. I've heard of people going so far as not dating someone simply because they use Android instead of Iphone.
But, that's understandable, you might want someone with the same beliefs, tastes and values as you. In the past there were definitely guys I turned down because they told me the live action movies were their favorite Transformers media. I could just tell they'd have terrible taste and wouldn't want to have to interact with them on a daily basis.
maybe not "media" but, for me i like bayformer designs the most out of every transformer ever, and i have been a fan since victory, let that sink in
1st, I've never said anything about the designs. 2nd, What the f**k do I care when you've been a fan since bro? 3rd, why would I even care? I wasn't even mentioning it for whatever reason you think I am? because I have no idea what your point was.
I'm glad I met my girlfriend, now wife in college before the internet/text/social media era because I would never be able to date in today's world. I'd become a Monk and live in a cave or in the mountains somewhere. People put a ton of stock in relationship formulas (i.e. you need to have many things in common, compatible horoscope signs, height/weight, religion, political affiliation, etc.), but it's BS and it all boils down to mutual respect, compromise and listening. It also helps if neither one of you are a cheating piece of crap. My wife and I have been married for 12 years and together for 10 years before that while we attended college and then sorted out our careers. Besides movies, travelling and few other things, we have very little in common, but the key is we let each other enjoy our separate hobbies and interests without judgment. I've always been a nerd and she lets me continue to be a nerd with my toys, art and comic convention exploits and I let her enjoy her K-pop, purses and foodie stuff; all things we enjoyed separately before we met. People seem to think that you need to be up in each other's faces 24/7 to have a successful relationship, but that's nonsense as there can be too much of a good thing and you run the risk of getting sick of each other. Mia in Pulp Fiction said it best regarding relationships: "That's when you know you've found somebody special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence."
the point was, because for the most part, the vast majority of the people that think those who like bayformers, neither have good taste(you said as much yourself) or are not true fans(have been on these forums enough to know that is the case for a good percentage of what we call purists and geewuners) and sadly most of the time, both lines of thinking go hand to hand, thats why i mentioned it, you could say i shouldnt generalize, not everyone that hates the movies dislike the designs or the other "related media"(movie comics) but i could say the same about your post, you generalize as well (I could just tell they'd have terrible taste) also, i just mentioned since when i have been a fan so (not only you) but anyone reading my comment could see that at least in my case, liking said franchise doesnt mean one hasn't been exposed to other tf media(again, with the idea that many have that liking bayformers mean being a poser or just someone brought into the fandom because of it which some do not like to much, again, im generalizing as much)
They were referring specifically to someone that they were interested in dating, which I'd say safely that doesn't apply to you. Count your blessings and move on, or at least make sure you read what the thread was about in the first place...
Ok.... while I think your comment was kind of out of left field for the context. I think I get what you are saying. I was just using a tf example bc we are probably passionate about tfs if we are on the forum. Not everyone gives a rats ass about what phone someone prefers. But, for funsies, I'll give a senerio you might not take personally. Say I meet someone new. The normal thing is to ask "what are you into? What are your hobbies?" Right? Great way to get to know if you'll get along outside the bedsheets. I say I love transformers, my favorite series is Beast Wars. Person goes "beast wars is the worst, prime is a monkey! Metal robots turning into organics? How does that work? And that dinobot character is awful!" I'd stop right there, I'd probably not get along with this person. Right? To me they have awful tastes. To them, I have awful tastes. End of story. I don't need to write a novel on why they are wrong, I just need to not go any further with them.
