Hate the movie model but this guy actually looks pretty great as a stylized G1 design. Let’s see on price and maybe I’ll get it.

That is very weird. Maybe these’ll be ultra cheap n that’s why. Who am I kidding? Lol they’ll be pretty close to generations price.

Yeah this is how I feel too. Recently I got EarthSpark Twitch. She’s a wonderful figure. $30 cad though. Not sure if she’s entirely “worth it” and yet I was still fine with spending the money because she seemed (and ended up being) fun.

This right here. It's not up to any of us to decide if a figure is worth it or not for other people, we can only make our own choices on if a figure is worth it to ourselves. Anybody insulting others for wanting this figure or being willing to buy this figure should probably just take a moment and step back from the conversation to figure out why they feel the need to sling insults.

I’ve a feeling that this mainline Optimus will look better than the Studio Series

Have we seen examples of this particular shade of plastic yellowing?

Well there is certainly a lot to unpack here...

    PRIME
    Pros:

    • Looks like good articulation
    • Straightforward Transformation engineering
    • Good silhouette.
    Cons:
    • That size... I know this isn't a collector focused line but even still that seems to a bit too small for MRSP.
    • Grey, grey everywhere and not a single point drop to spare. I feel like they could have made the legs from the knee down in blue plastic and just get a bit of grey paint. Leaves a lot to be desired looking from the rear.
    • On that same note; if there was some red paint on the bottom torso, I feel like that would better balance out his chest windows. I think with a completely grey torso, it makes his chest look out of proportion.
I'm interested to see what they can improve with the SS release.

    RHINOX:
Nice details but this figure's deco makes me sad though, where's the color?
With a kid-focused line you'd think there would be creative liberties taken to appear more colorful as opposed to screen-accurate? I'm talking AOE Toy-line Dinobots colorful. Bright, fun colors that look fun to play with.
Distinguish the grey-scaled Terrorcons with the colorful heroic Maximals and Autobots!

The optimus actually has a rather fun looking transformation. As people have said, it's rather evocative of the classics, and feels like a g1 optimus transformation, and if I actually wanted an optimus, I'd buy this. Don't really buy optimus tho. Give me a nemesis and I'd be in.wierdly enough, I do think it's more impressive how much paint they insisted on using instead of just casting it in blue. Stupid, but impressive.

Truck mode is bad, but it has charm. For 25-29.99 I'd say it'd be fine. For 35 I'd say it needs to be bigger.

Anyway, can't wait to see rhinox's transformation and primal eventually. Weird how wave 2 showed up before wave 1.

Hopefully not, would be pretty bad considering the SS line is supposed to be superior to the mainline.

Jeez you'd think paying $35 for a voyager would a least give you more paint. That Grey is awful. Unless he somehow looks like that, this is unacceptable.

Since it got brought up again, here's my thoughts on who CHUG is aimed at.

I don't understand why Hasbro would invest in stuff like cyberverse and authentics if CHUG and SS were aimed at kids.
Nor would I understand why the Prime Wars and WFC shows were explicitly marketed as a show for adult fans.

    Furthermore,
Why would they make retailer exclusive lines of obscure characters (who kids wont know)?
Why would they bother with an online storefront like Pulse?
Why would they run livestreams to reveal toys, with no emphasis on Authentics or Cyberverse?
Why would they get the designers to make Instagram posts about the design process for individual figures?

Hasbro's decisions indicate that CHUG and SS are marketed towards older collectors.

It's all aimed at kids. Because "kids" is a broad age group ranging from 0-17.

Different things will aim at different groups within the broader age range.

No, they're kids toys, aimed at kids, but based on characters who will *also* appeal to some older fans.

As casual fans and kids age in to and out of the line they find new ways to change up the base formula, but realized they can milk nostalgic adults by looping in the same characters over and over again.

    This isn't hard.

The legs are litterally painted, every blue spot on this figure is painted.

There's nothing uniquely awful about the Rhinox mold, but it's so static and drab that it just doesn't feel like a modern figure, even compared to others in the same line.

Optimus seems fine, I bet some panel lining will really make some of those details pop, I'm of two minds about having molded details in grey and red instead of paint or decals but at least there's some effort.

Yeah can somewhat agree, HOWEVER mainline for most tv shows and movies are probably for kids with the commercials having an obvious demographic. So hasbro just throws out anything for the mainline and focuses on chug.

Hate the figure all you want, but it's not your place to judge other people for being fine with it enough to buy it.

Basically a Deluxe with Voyager price tag.

Look how small it is compared to SS38 Optimus mold.

Then again, I might want it if this fits the scale in ROTB film.

    About these two

I think Prime looks very very good, the grey plastic is...a choice, but other than that he looks really nice, probably the second best movie mainline voyager Prime.

Rhinox is intersting, he looks nothing like his battle changer counter part, I don't like the back of the beast mode and the bot mode is ok, I don't like that head tho.
