Bruh I don't really understand what you're saying. I'm not complaining about anything, also please use punctuation so I can hear you better, thanks.

Wow, you're right. Why aren't the gas tanks symmetrical? It wouldn't be a Jada figure without something wonky going on.

    1) A lot of the stuff from the days of Beast Wars through the Unicron Trilogy featured characters who’s designs look nothing like their G1 counterparts and was done simply to secure trademarks on names. Armada Wheeljack looking like a black Sideswipe wasn’t exactly intentional. (I may be confusing this with copyrights.) You’d have to talk to Aaron Archer on exactly why names were applied the way they were.
    2) By the time of the movies, they really didn’t have to do that. They had secured the rights to G1 character names, but they were applying them to really off designs that looked nothing like their older counterparts. If you look at the Autobots in the original film cast, they are made up entirely of ‘84 bots and probably could have gotten away with making them look something akin to their original appearances, although their deal with GM decidedly made certain that all the cars they became would be from General Motors. Optimus Prime remains a blue and red truck. Bumblebee is a yellow car. Those are iconic. Ironhide is a pickup truck which is fine, but why isn’t he a red pickup truck with a yellow stripe? This just screams to me that the production team didn’t really care. Black is a cooler color and who’s gonna really care about some nobody side member of the Autobots who isn’t really gonna do much beyond being background fodder in the big explosive heavy climax?
Also, for me, the live action films were always meant to be evocative of the original G1 continuity. That’s why they brought back the name “Witwicky” for the leading human character. That’s why they used a cast of entirely ‘84 Autobots for the first film. That’s why Bumblebee is chosen to be the human liaison character just as he was in the original cartoon and comics. So in that sense, there should be some design synergy between the two. That’s why Optimus has to be a semi truck here and not a fire engine for instance.
    3) The actual disguise of the characters to me doesn’t matter because they are “robots in disguise”. For me, what matters is a robot mode that bares a continuous similarity that along a line that makes them immediately recognizable as a specific character. For me, that means a consistent head and color scheme. It helps pick them out of a crowd. If you showed me for the first time movie 1 Ironhide in either mode, I’d have no idea who he was. If you showed me him but colored red with a more “Spartan helmet” influenced robot head and a yellow stripe running down his side, I’d instantly know it as Ironhide. So for the example of Rodimus from Energon, I actually like that design because despite him being a truck instead of a futuristic sports car or space Winnebago, he still maintains that magenta color with flame decals and a head that screams “Hot Rod/Rodimus”. Additionally, being a truck actually works out well for me too because Primes are trucks/convoys (not strictly true, but you know what I mean) and this really feeds into a whole evolution of “Rodimus Convoy”.

Exactly! Everytime I hear someone say "something new and fresh" when applied to a mainstream Transformers thing (excluding elseworlds style things like shattered glass) all I hear is "something not Transformers". The idea of "G1" is Transformers.

That Ironhide comment is a bit nitpicky. Sure he ain't red, but Jazz isn't black and white, and Ratchet isn't red and white in the films. Does that mean they didn't care? No, it just means they decided to go with something different. G1 Ironhide will continue being a Vanette and Movie Ironhide will continue being a GMC Topkick.

And in a perfect world, we would have gotten a fusion (aka a perfect Ironhide design).

I was using Ironhide as an example. The same applies to Ratchet and Jazz.

He’s too perfect to exist in fiction.

No… it really does because it’s my opinion on their choice for designs. You’re response was geared toward the fact that I had singled out Ironhide. I could have just as easily mentioned Ratchet and Jazz who I am of the opinion were similarly misdesigned for the films. And again, I have no problem with Ironhide being a pickup or Ratchet being Hummer. Changing up their alt modes is fine. It’s their colors and head sculpts being off that gets me because looking back on the first movie, it makes them unrecognizable in an era that has long stressed uniformity in designs, especially in a film that I feel was meant to be specifically a G1 reimagining. This makes it feel like they just had names slapped onto unimportant background fodder just to secure the rights.

If I remember correctly, he said the name sounded evil to him because he was thinking of car-jacking. (as apposed to jacking up wheels with a tool)

So he used it for this (initially) evil character.

And in regards to bayverse bumblebee, he was meant to be hot shot until hasbro changed their minds. He was going to be in TFA too, but hasbro decided they wanted to reuse the name of a G1 character to appease fans. My point being, he wasn't designed to look like bee.

Not so sure that Hasbro, the creator and proprietor of the brand, would agree with such an absolute. In fact, seems like they pointedly disagreed with such a sentiment as recently as last week:

Of course I am, but I don't want Spider-Man to start ruthless murdering people while Carnage shows me his testicles.

It's my fault, I need to clarify my meaning. The Transformers character's change in the realm of Marvel, DC, Image heroes in regards to change. You can have fresh ideas, but nothing that would conflict with the core of the character, unless of course we are doing an Elseworlds type of thing.

so aside from the stupid voice and face of movie Ironhide, I thought he was one of the better characters closer to fiction. Atleast as course as Optimus.

Is real and official, just never used
