Man as much as I love LotR and am pumped that they're making new sets, I could never bring myself to drop $500 on this.
I can't take credit for them, I borrowed them from this mech frame I found on Google. But the changes I made to have it fit my Gundam ended up clipping parts during movement so I'm trying to redesign them I hope someone makes a sticker set for these two faces. I would like to build them on my own but kinda pointless without the exclusive face prints These are great, may I ask where you got them? I especially like that Hound. The gear for the Jeep grill is clever Here's one of Optimus I designed a while back
I got them off of Aliexpress a few years back but can't seem to find an active listing. Here's another listing that is out of stock but has the part numbers: DECOOL 6859-6870 Transformers
I'm wondering: if this is the complete set, then... maybe the reported price and piece count are wrong? (Has happened with leaks before.) Maybe it's actually a smaller, more "affordable" set in the $250-300 range, like the Bugle or Sanctum. I certainly wouldn't complain. A Rivendell set doesn't need to be ridiculously large if they just want to focus on the iconic locations/scenes in the film: council, bridge, hall with the shards of Narsil & statue, and Elrond's library are the main areas I'd hope to see included. Guess we'll find out soon!
Today's haul. Picked up pieces to make a stand for the Great Wave so I could display it on my counter. Thought it looked enough when I was there...Will pick up more pieces to extend it a little more & add to the other braces for more stability. And picked up the last in stock Lego Speed 2F2F Skyline. They had 4 new blindpack boxes (whatever its called), one of the workers helped me out trying to look for thr Spaceman figure but didnt end up feeling one. ...also bought the Disney 100th Anniversary Brickheadz. That's tomorrow's build.
RX 78 2 update. Lower body design is completely done and I'm quite satisfied with how they turned out. Now to the hard part. The upper torso is giving me an aneurysm trying to figure out the complex geometry in a stable way and still fit in a minifigure Edit: and for those who don't know much about Gundam, it's this guy And here's the messy photoshop I cobbled together for reference
Just make sure the torso also includes a transforming core fighter. In all seriousness, looks great so far!
Was watching old lego commercials and was looking at Lego Studios sets and remembering that I always wanted that set to make my own movies, but my parents said no because the set was too expensive. Even when I got lots of cash from my Grandparents I wanted to buy the Lego Studio set myself, but my parents forbid me from buying it, they took the money and put it in the bank.
Check out the Bricklink designer program, submit your design, it may become an actual Lego product! Designer Program [BrickLink]
The rest of yesterday's haul, Disney 100th anniversary Brickheadz. Started looking at Rebrickable and there's a few I wouldnt mind making.
I'm struggling just to even fit a single minifigure in there while keeping everything structurally sound. In fact, I'm thinking I may have to exclude that feature entirely unfortunately. It's the only area that is continuously giving me trouble I considered going back and making the entire thing a little bit larger to easier accommodate a minifig in the torso, since there are essentially two Minifigure scales, one based on their height (which is what I went with), and one based on their width. But I'm too far along now to just start over I doubt it, they probably can't get ahold of the license. Otherwise I'd be surprised that they haven't done a line yet, because it seems right up Lego's alley. A line of buildable Gundam action figures by Lego might be seen as taking sales from Bandai's own line of buildable Gundam action figures, so they wouldn't want to give Lego permission to do it My best bet would be putting together some digital instructions when it's done and selling that alongside a parts list, after I build it physically to make sure it's structurally sound, although I would absolutely love to have one of my designs as some sort of official set at some point
Don’t have much experience with buying GWPs, so please help me out. What would a reasonable price for getting the Bionicle GWP be? The EBay price seems to have settled around £35 buy it now. Is that fair?
Just spotted a X-Wing Polybag with the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi on Target's website. Lego Star Wars X-wing Starfighter 30654 Building Toy Set : Target
They had some interesting minifigures and accessory pieces, at least. I bought the Hip Hop Car with the express purpose of customizing it into a mobster luxury sedan (space for four minifigures, opening doors, trunk, and bonnet hood) for Penguin from Matt Reeve's The Batman. Also works as the car that Jules and Vincent ride around in from Pulp Fiction (I was planning to get custom minifigures of them, lol).
