I think Gunn wants to keep his Suicide Squad continuity relatively intact. The Flash movie will probably reboot certain things and leave some stuff alone. I know Peacemaker Season 2 is purportedly in pre-production. At any rate, Gunn said Superman is the true launching point and Waller is supposed to pre-date that. So, I can also see Gunn using the Waller movie to close out the Syderverse. If there is a Peacemaker season 2, it will probably be written with the reboot in mind. On the other hand, Gunn's Suicide Squad is just disconnected enough from the first movie that he could zero in on that as the true beginning of the Gunnverse moving forward. Personally, I'd rather just cancel every movie not called Shazam 2, The Flash or Aquaman 2 and just do a 100% reboot starting with Superman in Summer 2025. Joker 2 can get an Elseworld title slapped on it. Pattison's Batman 2, as decent as that first movie was, should not move forward at this point.
That remains to be seen. Especially since other news is making it sound like Gunn is going to keep his Suicide Squad continuity around. If that's the case it most definitely is Gunn giving himself and his pre-established stories preference and not a Bond situation.
It sounds like if you have worked with him he is keeping you in the new universe. It sounds like Mamoa might stay as Aquaman and rumors are if Millar keeps their shit together they will be back as Flash. Both appeared in Peacemaker.
I don't know about this to be honest. I don't think her character deserves its own show. She's much better as a cameo character than a lead. She works in the shadows, not the lime light.
She was in his Suicide Squad movie and they were planning this probably as a Peacemaker/Suicide Squad spinoff before he got put in charge of everything. He would have done this even if he wasn’t in charge now. They were probably already writing scripts before the announcements. Look at how far back this thread started.
Speaking of bad ideas, the person writing this show also wrote the Watchmen Tv series. Seriously with this and Tom king, I'm getting less and less excited.
I don't see a problem with them writing the show, like I get it if you're not a fan of their work, but it's not going to be bad.
Starting to feel this whole thing is DOA. The choice in writers, selective rebooting of only part of the universe, Damien Wayne Robin, having the Authority (a Justice League copy) before the actual justice league, etc etc Waller is an interesting character, but they should’ve started small and introduced a new version of her much later as a shadowy figure operating in the background after building the world. Keeping the Peacemaker side of the DCU is a bad idea, the humor and feel just doesn’t match what I would personally want out of the DC franchise. considering how bad the watchmen show was, it’s entirely reasonable to expect this to also be bad
Done right it could work but it would take more effort and talent than we have seen from Warner in a few decades. Honestly it could go either way. (Don't have much hope for anything that Tom King touches though, but they could always throw out his script after reading how bad it is.
Surely Waller would be better as either a supporting player or antagonist in something like Peacemaker?
