A game I just sold this week. The buyer and I arent happy. Random: 'WATA Certified' Pokémon Yellow Apparently Mauled By US Customs
Teaser of the arcade room(arcade carpet, black lights, shelves, and 2 other machines not added yet/shown) but wanted to share my retro room with a teaser. The arcade carpet I’m most excited to have installed soon, and finishing painting the white on the walls/windows to silver.
OK, played some Sonic CD on my Genesis Mini 2. My only previous experience with it was playing it a little through emulation. Not sure what most people think, but…. Good lord the US soundtrack SUCKS. Like, HARD. It’s so slow and too mystical-sounding. Doesn’t fit Sonic at ALL. I did finally get the hang of the whole past/future thing though.
It's a good soundtrack, but not for Sonic CD and they should have had no business changing it in the first place. If you want the actual soundtrack with the localised version of the game, the modern ports have that option and there's a late prototype for the original US release that's the finished version without the soundtrack change (Build 920) that's on the internet.
Fortunately the Genesis Mini 2 gives the option to choose the US or UK/Japan soundtracks so I can just go with the one I want Similar thing with Truxton. It lets you choose between the erroneously sped-up music of the original release or correct-speed music more faithful to the arcade game. (According to Hardcore Gaming 101, the home port developer only received the Mega Drive music specs 2 weeks before release so the music was developed for a PAL system, resulting in sped-up music on NTSC systems).
A buddy of mine sent me these pictures from a shop in NJ. these prices make no sense. Not sure if these prices are based on wata or not. Everything just seems pricey.
Those are a bit high for what they are, but evidently, they think someone is going to pay them. Rare NES carts are a weird breed, and IMO, it's probably a matter of supply and demand. That said, any completionist that absolutely needs NES Bucky O'Hare might just pay that amount for that cart. Having played it back in the day, I can assure you it is not worth a substantial chunk of the price of a PS5.
They are a bit high, covid era prices for sure. Video games in general have come down in demand the last year and so have prices people are willing to pay. Keeping rarer items in the shop is also important as well though, it brings in customers. If you priced them cheap, your store would be empty and boring
couple cool little finds today reorganizing office stuff. first in my saturn box was the og receipt from 96. I picked it up in the summer of 96 after a couple months working at my dads car shop. I was 15 at the time and I think it just had the 50% price drop to compete with ps1. or walmart did it early, I cant remember. but yeah it was the summer of saturn for sure! then the gc pickup was from about 10 years ago, complete with box. didnt think I would be reflecting on the 2010s as a better time for retro gaming
I rearranged my office Detolf and decided to dedicate the top shelf to some portable game systems. Most of these have some sort of special attachment, but mostly I really just wanted to have these on display instead of stashed away in their individual cases. The SupaBoy is actually really fun, but incredibly awkward. It's 100% gimmick, but I do love the idea of walking around while playing an actual SNES cartridge and not a ROM. The GameBoy is soon to be revamped. Needs a new case, a new speaker, and maybe an updated backlit screen. The GameBoy Advance was the second one that I updated with a new case, new speaker, backlit screen, and painted the bumpers and buttons. The GameBoy Color is a system that I bought last year to help introduce my daughter into retro portable games. Specifically, she really likes Pokemon so I bought this system and several of the "remastered" Pokemon games to help out with that. The 3DS XL is just something I wanted because of my collector mentality. The PSP is a special edition Star Wars Battlefront system that has a graphic of Darth Vader on the back battery cover. I really, really wanted this when it was released, but felt like it was way too expensive. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and parents got together and bought it for me for Christmas that year. I'm not too much of a man to admit that it brought me to tears when I opened up that gift. The DS Lite was a Christmas present from my wife (then girlfriend) that's still going strong. The only thing I've done to this one is replace the crimson faceplate because my original had become scratched up over the years. Here's a picture of the rolling game cart that I put together for my daughter and myself. It's definitely gone through some changes over the last year: The TV was a $25 thrift store find. The HDMI ports don't work, but it has two RCA inputs and one Component input that all work beautifully. It started with SNES and N64 systems. Bins were added to the bottom shelf to hold SNES, NES, and N64 cartridges. I replaced the SNES with a FC Twin so that we could play the NES cartridges as well. The NES cartridges fit uncomfortably tight in that system. I discovered how easy it is to add Homebrew to the Wii, so I purchased a cheap system from eBay because I didn't want to run the risk of damaging the system I've had since launch. This new Wii and homebrew replaced both the FC Twin and N64. While putting those systems back into storage, I re-discovered my Dreamcast and found out that it's pretty easy to make "backup" discs which expanded my Dreamcast library significantly. I recently bought a couple of XBox 360 systems because I had never owned one before and learned that it's not difficult to flash the disc drive to read "backup" discs as well. I'll probably put the NES and SNES cartridges in storage to make room for the XBox 360 on the bottom shelf soon because I really want this thing to be completely portable. I should be able to unplug the power strip and roll this into any room in the house.
That was you? Good grief I would be livid and chewed them out! I hope they recompensated the both of you.
Figured I’d show the Donkey Kong Board which I’m having sent in for repairs. In a week or 2 I’ll finally have my Donkey Kong Arcade up and running! One step closer to my arcade room being complete.
Thought I’d show a few of the many mods I’m working on for my Jurassic Park Data East Pinball machine. Went about installing a custom raptor sign, and dock sign. Put new red rubbers on the flippers, installed 2 new chips which completely update the gameplay. Soon there will be -Custom T-Rex fence -mini palm trees throughout the playfield -Tiny raptor near the Raptor sign -Light up Jurassic Park Jeep -Nedrys Computer -Vinyl decals inside on the left and right of the machine -Color DMD -new speakers -Painting the machine legs red -Adding caution tape design to sides of machine Also please forgive the messy playfield. I’m going to hire someone to take apart and clean the whole playfield/wax it (and finish installing all new rubbers everywhere and LEDs) anyway here’s the little custom signs I got. Love adding tiny mods, really help bring out more of the machine! If anyone has any mod suggestions please let me know What do you think would look cool on the Jurassic Park Pinball playfield?
Still working on the arcade room, did manage to get the TV installed above the door. The wires/cords will be hidden with cord covers, but soon the space to the left will have a Nintendo Switch, Sega Saturn, SNES, and NES installed on the wall (with wireless controllers) so anyone sitting at the arcade cocktail table (coming soon) can watch tv or game! Additional still waiting for the 90s arcade theme carpet to arrive, and custom shelves, but I am working on displaying my older Mega Man games!
Set up more of my Mega Man games. Still have a ton left to display, not sure if they will go on various spots on the walls on the the custom shelves coming.
Did that statue come with a collector’s edition of Shadow of the Colossus? Wherever it came from, I’m jealous It’s one of my favorite games ever and the scarcity of merch for it is disappointing.
