Did they mention Dino King in the Live Stream? This is kind of odd because Dino King was not comprised of his Dino Shells. He was a gestalt of the inner bots which had monstrous alt modes, not dino alt modes. So this doesn't make any sense.

 

All in for a remoulded Monstructor.

Yeah, the other Core releases are good (Ratchet) to great (Soundwave).
I'd have prefered that Hasbro release Core Dinobots that don't combine, because these are obviously hindered by the combination.
However, I can't deny they are fun.
I'll take this and probably a Monstructor or at least one other version of these designs.

Dinoking is a combiner made of micromasters. Short robots can be cool too.

They didn’t specifically mention him, but Evan has clearly hinted at Dinoking being a repaint, not to mention Slug now being the torso, Grimlock a leg, and the addition of a sixth member to the Combiner. And while not G1 accurate, the Dinoforce repainted from these guys would fit the shell+inner got hybrid approach they’ve been going with for the ‘con pretenders.

As for those suggesting Monstructor… why? A connects to B by Volcanicus being a Combiner made from dinosaurs and the Dinoforce having dinosaur shells, B connects to C as the inner robots of Monstructor and Dinoking share a mold, but you can’t jump from A to C. There is no way in hell for Monstructor to be repainted or even retooled from Volcanicus without looking nothing like the character.

My personal want for Monstructor would be new molds based solely on the inner robots, about Deluxe size, that combine into a Combiner the height of Legacy Menasor. You can then repaint this into Dinoking and have an accurate combiner version of him. As cool as it would be, I don’t see a hybrid approach to Monstructor working due to the clashing colours between components resulting in a compromised deco for one or both modes.

 

Alr serious thoughts now:

As individual bots go, Grimlock/Goryu is probably the best one so far tho its a shame about the lack of elbows on all of them so far. T rex mode is fine, I find it more tolerable than the POTP figure.

As for combine mode so far, it looks pretty good. The proportions definitely scream Dinoking to me, tho I am slightly disappointed with how small it is, but at the same time I get that Monstructor/Dinoking was the smallest G1 combiner (at least toy wise). But hey sometimes it isn't about size, its about technique. So who knows these guys could be a ton of fun. While I'm mostly in it for Dinoking, I'm picking the Dinobots as they look like they could be fun little desk toys.

Maybe in the future they'll give us a new Monstructor if they're continuing core class combiners. That being said I do hope Liokaiser is regular combiner scale, hopefully being around the same height as Deathsaurus.

 

No it won’t. Monstructor is made up of monsters not dinosaurs. It’s like saying a repaint of Devastator would make a good Superion.

I’d like a repaint into the dinosaur cassettes. Make two new molds too. Yes, there are two Decepticons with four Autobots. Let’s say they are on friendly terms even though they are on opposing sides.

 

So they give them new heads. No biggie. The orginals barely looked like anything.

 

But they're terrible, deformed dinosaurs.

You know, good raw material for monsters.

 

The Monster Pretenders are still not dinosaurs.

It's so obvious they're going to do Dinoking...and that's why i'm buying the Dinobots. I'm supporting this in that hope that we get Dinoking.

Though I hope Dinoking is like a selects all in one boxset.

 

Looking forward to Dinoking. The originals were little guys anyway, so they’ll fit with other CHUG figures. Not sure how they can do Monstructor since the creatures were very much not dinosaurs.
