So, I'm collecting G1, which is what I grew up with, so the Studio Series 86 is a natural choice for me to get a good, posable version of those characters. But I was wondering if Legacy et al had good versions of G1 characters for me to collect, like Spin Out, Slicer, and the mainline characters too. Thanks!
Yes, there’s a Slicer under the Shattered Glass line on Hasbro Pulse right now. The Generations Selects Spin Out and Cordon two-pack came out two years ago. Loads of G1 characters to collect over the past five years from War For Cybertron and Legacy.
So far, I have Skids, Black Skids, Windsweeper, Pointblank, Optimus, Rodimus, Galvatron, and Hubcap is on the way. I have pretty much all the Studio Series 86 aside from Grimlock. I'm thinking Cyclonus and the Alt version, and Galvatron II soon. Any recommendations on who to get next?
Legacy Kickback is a great figure and is pretty much the definition of “G1 plus articulation”. Bombshell and Shrapnel are on their way too. SS86, Earthrise, Kingdom, Legacy and Evolution are the lines you want to look at for these kinds of updates.
I do have Kickback, so hearing the other two are coming is great news. I do wish the Deluxe Insecticons would get a good refresh. Is Legacy Cosmos supposed to be over $50?
Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom & Legacy definitely have some great versions of G1 characters and is a good jumping on point for those new to collecting or getting back into it. Legacy Kickback, Galvatron (I would go Legacy repack since it doesn't have the battle damage of the Kingdom version), Blitzwing, Needlenose, and the Stunticons. Even going back to Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom, have released what, to me anyway, are the definitive versions of some key G1 characters. After getting Netflix Siege Megatron, Earthrise Optimus Prime, and the ER seekers, I really don't see a reason to ever upgrade from those versions. He is not supposed to be but being a Wal-Mart exclusive and shortpacked to only 1 Cosmos per case has made it that way. Shortpacked and/or incredibly hard to get exclusives have been a bigger pain as of late and has been even worse I think since Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom with Amazon cancelling orders for ER Prowl/Ironhide and ER Dirge/Ramjet and then there was Wal-Mart getting earth mode Soundwave and VW Bumblebee which are going pretty high on eBay at the moment. Then there was Target getting ER Thrust. He sold out pretty quick at Target.com. There was a story that some of Target's shipment of Thrust went overboard into the ocean on the way here but I don't know if anything was confirmed or denied. He did show up eventually in stores but I don't remember him lasting all that long.
Very nice Hubcap. I'm not wild about the separating backpack or the chest piece being upside down but it's a good figure otherwise. Definitely going to get Cliffjumper and Bumblebee
Between who we have and who's missing, including toy, cartoon, and comic characters, that's a list of like 400-500 bots.
My G1 favourites of the WFC+ era (aside from some of the ones you mentioned) would be Needlenose, Gnaw, Crankcase, Ransack, Huffer n Pipes, Snapdragon, and Cosmos (especially Cosmos). Minerva is great too if you’re including JG1! Plus I can almost guarantee you the next few years are going to be filled with bots just as great
G1 (US) Ran 1984-1990. Releasing well over 500 figures. If you take into account EU and Japan g1 that number is a lot higher. We will never get a complete modern g1 line up.
