Anyone had a chance to handle the G2 version? Was wondering if they were on par with the G1

The QC on my copy was absolute garbage. I'm already used to MS figures having mold flashing that's prominent enough that I'll want to trim it off, but this set was something else. It wasn't just little slivers of plastic that look sloppy, it was entire blobs of plastic that prevented articulation and transformation. Every single one of the figures had something that made it unusable out of the box. I spent several hours carefully going over each one to trim the excess. For example, Scavenger had so much extra plastic inside the bicep swivel that the arm wouldn't move, and when I pulled it out to investigate, I saw that the head of the mushroom peg was completely wavy and deformed. To get it to rotate at all, I had to trim so much plastic that when I put it back in, it wouldn't stay in the joint anymore. Like, if I don't touch it, it's fine, but move it at all and it falls out.

I don't know if they're all like this or if I just got "lucky", but someone else posted earlier about their copy having bad QC as well. I'm very disappointed in MS.

Thanks for replying. I will definitely have to give this set some extra consideration before I pull the trigger...

There was a saving of something like 30 to 40$ for the yellow version when i was purchasing over the green, and i went for the yellow. That price difference bought me one more MS Figure...

Found a misfired pin on the right arm bot guy. It holds fine in combined mode, but i don't think he'll make the journey again.

While i love this set, I wish it had newage plastic :(

I have their Skyfire, Yellow Magnus, and Blue grimlock next to this guy and its a pretty stark comparison.

Again, absolutely love how this looks, and i'm thrilled that it exists at all, but man is it fiddly.

my individual bots seems fine comparatively to yours. but my combiner torso hips and knees are very loose and sort of floppy compared to my original. i haven't had a chance to go over it and see if it can be fixed by just tightening the screws in those areas, or if it will require more involved fixing.

as always MS QC is a hit and miss and i've had to reach out to ShowZ for replacement parts to fix poor paint application on hook which has some uneven spotted/blotchy are and a molding issue one of the drills. :p

instead of doing all that. why did you just send a message to you seller asking for a replacement set to fix your issues. if that didn't help just go directly to MS asking for a solution. this was a current set so parts and bots are readily available.

I’d get in touch with the place you bought it from or with MS directly. I always buy my stuff from ShowZ and the few instances I had a QC issue with a MS figure they’ve always come through with free replacements.

To be honest, it didn't even occur to me. On the other hand, I probably would have been reluctant to do it - it took like a month and a half for it to arrive from BBB, and I wouldn't jump at the prospect of sending the whole thing back. Also, I don't actually have any faith that MS would be able to produce a replacement set that would have been problem-free. Maybe that's unfair of me, but all the MS figures I've gotten (which is probably 90% of them) have convinced me that they don't care at all about the "final polish" stage of manufacturing. I'd already seen one review that cited bad QC at the time when I received my set, so at the time I assumed they were all "slap 'em in a box ASAP and ship 'em out" products.

Yea that's what's a bit maddening about MS. I love love love the sculpt designs of their figures. But I hate the feel of them and their plastic. I try to wait for painted versions so it at least looks even better, but they always feel so cheap. Like they are going to melt with even just a little bit of heat in the house.

I only noticed last week, and i bought the set at launch. I also don't really mind QC issues on figures to a certain extent. Unless it's major, like my FH Armada prime's leg snapping off, I tend to not reach out.

Really, their only saving grace about their shitty QC is that they’re excellent at aftersales and sending replacement parts. I don’t mean to defend them too much cuz it still sucks, but try to get aftersales support from Hasbro and it’s an exercise in futility, at least it was when I tried.

MS is definitely skipping a step or three in the production cycle unlike some other companies though.

the one thing i've learnt in the past few years of collecting 3P TFs is to always go back to your retailer and ask for help if you get any sort of shitty QC, big or small. and this isn't isolated to MS but apply to NA, IF and others, though the majority of my QC problems seem to stem from MS. :p

worst thing that can happen is they say sorry, no can't help ya. the majority of the time though, especially if you get it from a reputable retailer like ShowZ, it may take time but you eventually will get the parts you need to fix the problem. if in the end they can't, then at the very least they usually will offer some refund/credits towards your next purchase.

Fair enough. Still might be worth a try though. I bought MS Motormaster when it came out but got the infamous cracks paint on the truck window like 10 months later. ShowZ still hooked me up with replacement legs.

i think you should still be able to reach out for after care support. worst case is you only ask for the limbs you need fixed. BBB or MS will be more than happy to take care of you.

arms, torsos and things like this aren't shit and much faster than bot orders. the parts are easy to source and they can be pulled and mailed out in bubblers. usually in the same day the request are made.

that is what i would do.

Oh yeah, I definitely filed a request with BBB for the Scavenger arm that was unsalvageable.

I'm a bit late to the game on this guy. Did the G1 version ever come in a single box set like the G2 version?
