Wasn't it the weijiang omega supreme that had the doc waaaay back? I guess it's a basic enough character/figure that anything that looks like that would seem KO'ed, but idk.

Yes Weijiang had a Doc as well. But I don't think it's a case of "all Doc's look the same." Check em out next to each other. If you have the Pangu Doc and the MFT mini Mech Doc, you'll see they have certain details that other Docs don't.

The dots in the shoulders for instance, the same weird little peg on his torso sides, same cone connecting the shoulder, same elbow connection, same little detail on the sides of his knees, and then the EXACT head, hands, hips and feet. They're even the exact same shade of red. I'll be damned if Pangu didn't either buy the design, ko it or are MFT in disguise.

I don't know if it's because I design these things, but there are a bunch of obvious differences to my eye:
Head shape, eye shape, detailing on forearms, chest shape, abdomen detailing, lower leg detailing.

They look very similar because it's a very simple character design, but the amount of differences say to me that it's a from scratch design.

That Doctor has to be the worst overall design to come out of G1. I'd take sticker-face toy Rachet over this guy

If they KOed the main bot from DX9, it isn't that crazy to assume they KOed the little dude too.

I caved and ordered this guy on Terry's. Just showed up today. Don't regret the purchase at all! Not many issues with mine other than the lack of room for the face to swivel around (probably will end up with a damaged nose as well eventually) and some fit and finish stuff but I'm overall very pleased with the figure and I'm glad that this didn't turn out to be terrible!

Wow, I'm surprised that you think that's a "from scratch design"?! As an artist and designer myself, some things I see just can't be a Doc thing or coincidence. It's not a 1:1 ko, it's a bit upsized and they slightly tweaked a couple things on the MFT design (for ex. they squashed his forehead down a bit). But I would bet the farm that it's either the same guy who designed the MFT one, they got the MFT file and tweaked it or they sat there with the MFT Doc in their hands and straight bit it. made it from scratch? I doubt that.

I dunno, in the long run it doesn't really matter only Pangu toys would know for certain and I'm actually just stoked to have another little Doc figure that looks almost exactly like the one I already had.

But if i had no reference of what this was and someone showed me these pics, I would think they're the same or ones a copy of the other.

Inner thigh - circle and the same exact spot to put a screw?

Even the dumb upsidedown shocked open mouth. Same shape and expression just slightly taller from the upsize..

It's a silly thing to argue, but the differences in shapes are not ones you would end up with with a KO, and if you're doing a KO it doesn't make sense to redesign certain features just for them to have subtle differences. That's not to say that they didn't look at existing versions and make their own interpretation, but I would bet money that Doc is not a straight KO.

He's definitely not a straight KO. The only question is whether he's a modified KO or if both companies arrived at nearly the same place through convergent evolution. Personally, I don't think it matters all that much. Omega is already a ko and I don't think anybody in this thread is particularly offended by that so, if the doctor is also a ko, I don't see why it's anything to worry about. If I had to guess, though, I'd speculate that they used MFT's as a reference while sculpting their own without necessarily trying to make it an exact copy.

I originally showed the pic to say I can see truth to the rumor of Pangu toys being ppl from MFT, or got their STL file, or sat with it in hand because of their Doc. You refuted my point trying to discredit it with your view. I'm not arguing, I just followed up with visual evidence against your statement of "designed from scratch." The pictures I posted speak for themselves and people can make their own assumptions.
And just so you don't gaslight me, I said:
And this right here got me thinking...
While it may not make sense to you, thats EXACTLY what MFT does! They've taken iron factory or Magic Square figures, OS KO them and redesign certain features but only slightly. Add a head on inferno, better hips/ removable hands on grapple, bits on ultra Magnus, took the UT headmasters and changed certain features adding minor details etc.. it's another thing to support what I been saying.

But at the end of the day it like it, it matches my MFT one and was a nice first run bonus to ko Gabriel.

“I’m glad this didn’t turn out to be terrible.” A ringing endorsement if there ever was one. I’m just joking btw. I’m glad it’s a good figure. :)

Got mine from Omegalock, I like it a lot. It's almost a bargain for something this size and quality for just £65 but I would have happily paid more to get the original 'Gabriel' wings as an optional extra. The wings jutting out so far kind of prevents me from loving the overall package. It coming with preinstalled batteries was a nice surprise but I've no idea what the soundclips say. One last nitpick is the yellow shin pieces being shortened, not sure why they chose to do that. But tolerances and quality of materials are really good. I'm not sure where the negative reviews came from.

Man. I'm so torn on this one. I like the look of this one a lot. But it is a little too small for MS Devastator. And I can usually look past scale a bit, but he needs to be at least equal and he's short. But then the NA one has a strange popped out chest that just distracts me from seeing Omega.

For what its worth, this figure is excellent. worth every penny regardless of being 1cm or so short. NA will likely be double the price ( which ill get for the motorised tank... im a sucker ) but this is a great piece

    Does the back still close.

Fair enough... know what you mean on all points
I might still try make mine taller by using filler peices even for scalling with Na. If i succeed i will upload to thingieverse. I just need to get it in hand first, thrn figure it out. and it's a bummer as i seem to have ordered from the slowest option showz...

You can easily make him a cm taller by using the ankle tilts, they have an extension hinge in them. He has no stability then but printing a small lock would be easy enough
