Should Hasbro make a Transformers videogame, which is about & follows the storylines of G1 episodes?

So for example, the G1 episode where Carly and Spike have to embark on a journey to Cybertron together would be one of the actual levels of the videogame, and Megatron's Master Plan would be another level.

When the hell did you become coherent?

Or did you just forget what this particular sock puppet account's gimmick was?

Ignoring the oddness of this post's normality, yes I would dig that.

To give a legitimate answer, wasn't Devastation sort of that game?

I think this is the first time I've understood one of OP's comments. D:

I mean, sure? I don't see why not. They could expand upon them / flesh them out and it could be fun. If it was something like Devastation.

Come to think of it... i wonder if this kind of concept would work with a musou-esque format?

I was just on Quora, and talking to somebody about the same topic (as I've asked the same question there); does Devastation follow the plotline of Megatron's Master Plan? My thinking, is that each episode of G1 is represented, with a format perhaps of selective arenas per level, per episode representation. So, for example, MMP episode could have the user just situated on the spaceship, that is sued to evacuate the Autobots from Earth temporarily.

Desertion of the Dinobots, conversely, could have the user/player be Carly and Spike on Cybertron, with Shockwave as the big bad.

The criteria, for how arenas are selected by the game manufacturers could be sort of random, but, alas, still following the logical premise of arena based on arena's longevity of representation in the episode in question

No thanks, I much rather have original content instead. Plus realistically it would never work anyway.

Like being honest, G1 isn’t exactly on the same level as Star Wars. Which often puts players in these iconic battles because numerous people have seen the original movies growing up over the decades.

A G1 game though, what 15 year old would be eager to play a game about some 40 year old tv episodes they’ve never seen? Like Hasbro can’t just rely on 50 year olds to make money back on game sales.

Not quite. It captured the look and tone of Sunbow very well, but had its own story. It felt more like you were playing through a "lost episode" than actual episodes of the cartoon. IMO that's better, because you didn't know what would happen next on your first playthrough.

Plus, IIRC, the lore didn't quite match up 100%. But that's not unusual for a videogame based on a license.

What about a game for legacy? I know someone already made a video about this but think about it. You can play any character from any universe you want battling against whomever you want, like Armada Starscream vs G1 Metalhawk or IDW Tarn vs Aligned Megatron or even do a Prime vs Prime vs Prime vs Prime vs etc. like lukamaken studios (sorry if I butchered the name).

just copy and pasting an old post i made from a thread in the games forum since it seem relevant

i literally plotted out a game like that; here's what i came up with. Despite what is officially established, i like to consider the Activation/High Moon games as being part of G1, just based on the designs, story and the way it was originally marketed. anyway, i would like to see the story now continued on earth. The movieverse sections of Rise of the dark spark showed us that the activation games can create a decent earth based transformer game, and i would love to see that go a step further. FOC and ROTDS also showed that the g1 optimus skin is an awesome way to play for any die hard fans and they were able to make it work, combining the wfc/foc alien aspects with the g1 earth aesthetic. so, why couldnt this be made to work for the other characters too, especially since the activation designs are already very g1 based. obviously some things wouldnt be the same as g1, like megatron transforming into a tank rather than a gun and soundwave into a truck and so on. The plot would follow the plot of the original "more than meets the eye" 3-parter from the beginning of the G1 series. I think this would also work well since the end of FOC butts up to how that started so well. i just think it is logical and a great idea to move the story on from that point. I know activation/high moon is gone now but they could have had the chance to move on and create an amazing new game that would really please TF fans and fans of the games in general and create an all new experience and interpretation of how the franchise started. here’s my plotting of the gameplay and levels

    Chapter 1: Ark attack
    Character: wheeljack-special ability: destabilizing burst
After leaving cybertron, the ark is attacked and boarded by the decepticons. Wheeljack must make his way through the ark from the engine room, fighting decepticons and repairing vital systems, and make his way to the main battle on the bridge. on the way, he has a boss battle with the insecticons, forcing them back onto the nemesis before it separates. the ark eventually loses control and plummets to earth.(wheeljack being the first playable character is a reference to his being the first on-screen character in the show)

    Chapter 2: Revival
    Character: Skywarp-special ability: teleportation
After millions of years in stasis, skywarp is the first bot revived by teletraan-1 in the present day. Guided by reflector over the Comm, he must make his way through the ark to find and revive each of the main decepticons. he must also fight off the reviving autobots and automated security systems. eventually, the decepticons are revived but are driven off as the rest of the autobots recover.

    Chapter 3: raw materials
    Character: soundwave-special ability: release minions
In order to gather materials for a new base, soundwave must disable and demolish a nearby human power complex. Disabling its security systems so that starscream can bomb it from the air, dispatching rumble/frenzy to demolish key structures and fighting off autobot troops that are scouting the area.

    Chapter 4: Scout the Area
    Character: cliffjumper-special ability: glass gass/Hound-special ability:Hologram distraction
Sent by optimus prime to find the decepeticons, you first play as cliffjumper as you scout the way through the terrain for you both until you find the decpeticons. After being discovered, as hound, you must flee back through the canyons and eventually battle laserbeak/buzzsaw and their laser drones.

    Chapter 5: Oil Rig
    Character: jazz-special ability: grapple hook
When the decepticons attack a group of off shore oil rigs, the autobots use a groundbridge to get there. as jazz, you must grapple up, down and across the 5 oil rigs to fight off the decepticons, stop their energy draining and after the decepticons destroy the rigs, help rescue the other autobots.

    Chapter 6: Sherman Dam
    Character: Optimus Prime-special ability: ?
When the deceptions take over and secure the dam, Optimus must make his way through the terrain and though the dam complex to clear it of the decepticons. at the top of the dam, megatron is fought as the boss battle, but despite being defeated, he manages to knock optimus off the dam and escapes.

    Chapter 7: Ruby mines
Character: Bumblebee-special ability: electric stingers wave
The decepticons are in the ruby mines of burma, and bumblebee volunteers to enter and plant a bomb. after briefly battling thundercracker and skywarp, and planting the bomb, he must escape the mine before it blows. he barely survives, but the decepticons also do and escape.

    Chapter 8: Rocket base
    Character: Ratchet-special ability: Repairing field
when the decepticons attack a rocket base, Ratchet backs up the lead attack to force them out of the area; making his way around the perimeter of the battlefield, taking on decepticon troops and repairing injured autobots. However, after the base is cleared, megatron appears via hologram and reveals that it was a diversion to keep the autoobts busy while they have finished their new ship and secured enough energon cubes to return to cybertron.

    Chapter 9: desert battle
    Character: Megatron-special ability: summon ravage
As the decepticons prepare to board their ship, the autobots lay seige to their base and megatron orders his troops to fight them off. megatron fights his way across the battle field to secure the ships perimeter, accompanied by ravage, until he and optimus confront each other in a boss battle. after defeating optimus, megatron calls for his troops to board the cruiser and it takes off.

    Chapter 8: decepticon cruiser
    Character: Mirage-special ability: cloaking
Mirage managed infiltrate the ship and must fight and sneak his way to the bridge, where starscream rebels and he and megatron battle as a mutany breaks out. mirage must disable multiple control consoles on the bridge, all the while hiding and avoiding starscream and megatrons attacks from their battle. megatron beats starscream, but discovers mirage, who escapes the ship, which loses power and crashes into the ocean. the autobots decide to ally with the humans until they can return to cybertron, and in the sunken decepticon ship, megatron stirs. an after credits cutscene would also show the wreck of the nemesis deep in the rainforest, swarming with insecticon clones.

I also think a great feature for the game would be a free roam base feature so you can explore the ark and the decepticon ship/base. And even talk with other main characters in those areas and get a bunch of lore/easter eggs/references.

No. Menasor combined the wrong way, Bumblebee's car was wrong, Megatron was a tank, etc. etc.

That Menasor design was the best one the G1 iteration of the character ever had; it blows everything else out of the water.

Only if it actually follows the G1 cartoon… plays out actual episodes like more than meets the eye or the ultimate doom… using the episodes as cut scenes… or New adventures set between seasons…
These half hearted attempts at Look here this is G1 follow Us to the new big Not G1 or retcon BS… to sell something else… it’s got tired and nobody cares anymore…
A better idea… a playable 86 movie… with online multiplayer and let the Fans Rumble. Then each month have new characters outside the movie as Downloadable (make money selling skins and weapons and stuff) content.

I was kinda hoping this would be what Devistation would evolve into if it had follow up games. Each TV episode is a mini campaign and you can take control of a leading cast member and live out the story with added replay value coming in the form of being able to change events and have different endings etc. Nothing wild just a solid value title. Maybe DLC etc could be in the form of follow up eps or comic stories adapted into game levels and so on.

I've always daydreamed of a Transformers: The Movie game, but I'd happily take one based on the G1 cartoon as well.
