i don't really know what the deal is with why they haven't been painting their previous figs.

if i had to guess i would say it was just a money thing. more over the nylon not taking paint well. that kind of stuff isn't cheap and for a company that was really grinding it out bot by bot. they might not have been able to spare that extra money at first.

It's not that they can't be painted, but colors are limited.

Case in point: instead of 'baby blue' windscreens, they are silvery blue instead.

Perhaps this is why some figures are not done using nylon, e.g. Stunticons and Shockwave. Either they couldn't get the correct plastic color or they couldn't paint the correct colors on them.

Went ahead and got this guy off Magic Square website with gears and windcharger. Got here in 14 days not bad compared to 22 days of my last order from them.

Gotta say the paint job is exquisite! The gray is added on perfectly with no scuffs or mistakes and the red on his legs is applied exactly where it should be. I thought the red was going to bother me more because why did they do a toon Megatron with red toy leg panels? I was on the fence ordering this. But in hand I'm really enjoying it more than I thought. Only thing is there's a little flash on his inner thighs and the paint is applied so thick at the elbow that it's tough to get his arms moving, but overall for the price, well worth the purchase if you can get past the whole toon x toy red leg thing.

Maybe MS’ best paintwork thus far imo. Would be nice if this painted technique could be a consistent deco option for their future molds and releases.

I’d love if they did a painted version of each release.

Jumped into the MS game with an order of the last Doomsday toy version copy at Magicsquaretoys.com along with Light of Victory. Not sure how far into the line I will go but these two should look good together.

Yep that is a no brainer, both figures are amazing. Honestly can't go wrong with any of their last releases, all are very good.

Didn't realize the painted version existed until I stumbled upon it a few weeks on magic Square's site. Took a while to ship since one of the stickers I'd ordered along with him was out of stock but he finally shipped and then arrived super quickly. Damn, this is a nice deco! I wish all MST figures looked like this.

Also a fun thing I figured out while adding a faction logo to the damaged chest. I use micro set to make waterslide decals stick better and micro sol to help them conform better and to soften the edges. After letting it soak in the solvent for about five minutes, I squished it out with a paper towel, pressing it down into the recessed dents on the chest panel, and then, while it was still damp, I carefully put a fingernail to the decal and moved it just a tiny bit. Made a perfect scratch in the decal. I repeated it several times and now I have a nice damaged symbol on his damaged chest. I'll have to snap a pic later but I just wanted to share that since it's a super easy technique and I've always kinda wondered what to do about symbols on the various Megatrons' damaged chest panels.

That's cool I tend to use only Micro sol with great results but I never bothered trying to add the faction symbol to the damaged chest because it looks so pristine, love to see a pic for inspiration!

Came out pretty good, I think, and it was super easy. Like I said, though, you barely move your fingernail. It'd be easy to accidentally take off huge chunks of you're not careful.

Is it just my copy or is this figure a complete pain in the ass to transform? I am never transforming mine again as it was an infuriating experience, and the QC was not the best either, my figures hand was missing the pin to hold the hand hinge piece in place! not sure ill buy from ms again, but other than those problems, the figure is fantastic! my chain piece for the flail got stuck and broke the metal chain! kinda dissapointed. EDIT: I still love the figure but this thing is not the perfect megatron I wanted him to be, I really hope they upscale this figure, as most of the problems I have had with this figure would be solved by making him bigger, and not making him so tiny and complicated.

The legs on mine were really fighting me the entire time, they wouldn't shift up smoothly at all. As far as I'm concerned it'll be a nice small statue

Their customer service is admittedly better than qc, I’ve received a figure with a missing pin as well. But they’ve always made it right h to rough the original retailer or reaching out to them on their page.

just got the exquisite paint version because i was hoping for a more toon look to match prime v2’s aesthetics, and spent the night trying to figure out whether i liked that or the metallic version more. finally decided to keep the metallic version bc i found the exquisite version a tad too white for me. so yea, gotta sell that off now lol. anyone interested, dm me!

I see, personally Im not too bothered, I just think I will Buy from newage from now on, as they seem to be right down my alley of simple, fun, small, rather than magic squares complex, small figures. If magic square made all their figures mp sized, i would be hooked and probably buy every one, but for now they are to complex for me (at least for my non precise hands).
