I have 3k Stealth Bomber Megatron in the mail and am wondering about a few things: How careful do I have to be with this figure? Are there any particularly fragile bits? How has it stood the test of time? Does it need silicone oil or Kiki/future for any of the joints? I am aware it's expensive and should be treated as such, I'm just curious what in particular I should watch out for as I want to keep my figure nice in the long term. I hope to take a fair amount of photos with it but am wondering if it should just be used for display purposes. Got it for a good deal ($300) so I'm quite happy to be able to experience a Flame Toys figure for the first time.

I have the 3K Drift, Tarn, Prime and Megatron (along with the Muscle Bear KO of Prime) and I find that Megatron had the tightest joints of my official figures. My Prime isn't too bad either, though the hips are a tad loose (I can't pick it up by its legs like I can with the MB KO), and Tarn is fine (mainly his arms are slightly loose but not toob ad). Drift is probably the loosest and sometimes I notice his legs sliding a bit after posing; thankfully all are still good enough they look great on display, but Drift is probably the least enjoyable to handle due to some loose joints. Megatron is easy to handle, except for the fact that he has so many accessories and some can get knocked loose if not careful. His backpack is actually surprisingly secure and has tons of flexibility and options (different poses on wings, use wings on the side cannon to emulate Megatron's classic arm cannon, etc), but the sword/vent accessories you plug on the side can come loose easily. Those are optional though if you don't want to use them.

I also find his LED features to be less enjoyable to use compared to Prime. The latter just had 2 buttons to easily press by his back (along with some kneepads to remove to switch one), but Megatron has a bunch of panels you have to remove to toggle, such as on the back of his shoulders, his chest piece, and his shin panels. None of that is particularly enjoyable so I don't use that feature ... ever (especially since it's difficult to remove his chest panel in some of my poses, which is necessary for his eyes). Whereas my kids love to toggle Prime's LEDs at random times since it's so simple. I wish Flametoys could make the LEDs as easy and enjoyable to use as the Moshow Progenitor Effect LEDs (whose figures I find better painted and constructed than Flametoys 3K in general anyway).

Speaking of LEDs, how simple or annoying are they to use with Rodimus? I wasn't planning to get him, but if he has better tolerances like Megatron does, I'm a little tempted. Still need to figure out if I want to sell my Drift and Prime though, but I'm keeping Megatron and Tarn for sure.

Thanks for the detailed reply. So no super fragile bits on Megatron?

Nothing fragile, though I guess you should always be careful with pointy transparent plastic (his wing tips), but I've never had an issue with them. I love his Strike Freedom style wings, though they're definitely stylized - you can just remove them and use them as arm cannons instead :)
His side skirt things hold his sword, and they are pegged upside down on the skirt; since gravity is working against it, they easily fall out if you accidentally mishandle them while posing. You can just remove the sword entirely though and he looks just as great.

Thank you! I plan on displaying him without the wings, with the wing bits as a fusion cannon to make him more IDW-accurate!

That's a good idea. I've never tried it cuz I love his wings, but I might need to give it a shot since the wings take up so much space.

I will add that he is an actively sharp figure. As in all sorts of parts of him are sharp. So keep that in mind when handling him.

Borrowed the spoiler from the mmc version. Need to improve the attachment method- but I like it.

What are everyone’s thoughts on K3 Rodimus?

I received my copy yesterday and he seems deceptively light on the one hand and is taller than expected on the other.

He has all the articulation he needs but the joints seem of a simpler design compared to Drift for example (who did the interlinked joints the best). I also don’t like the design of the waist area.

He has lots of accessories but I won't need 90% of them. And he is $400.

So I’m ambivalent about it. I just had time for a quick QC check so maybe I will warm up to him once I can spend more time with it.

Paint is forgotten though and I wonder if we will get a black Lost Light repaint of him down the line.

Got my 05 Megatron today and quickly inspected the figure for issues and moved his joints around. I'm incredibly impressed, limited ankle tilt aside. I cannot wait to install the batteries and take pictures of him later. I'll have to spend more time with him, but my initial impression is that he might be my favorite piece of official Transformers merchandise that I own.

Did we ever get pics of a final production-level Cyclonus?

The 3K Rodimus looks beautiful, I didn't know it actually got released! I cannot wait for Jazz, that looks wonderful. Makes me really want an IDW Magnus to be made ngl, or even if Autobot Megatron gets the 3K treatment. Soundwave or Shockwave would look wonderful too ngl.

The reissue for Star Saber arrived in the mail for me today. Extremely excited, my first Star Saber figure! Gonna open it up soon and get some photos taken for sure. Can't wait for him to be in a skirmish with my SG 3K Optimus.

Electronics don't quite work right, and I accidentally sheered the right switch off by switching it over just a tad too hard (it wouldn't turn on at first) so now it's permanently stuck in the "on" position. The ankle tilts are very limited. The price is exorbitant. But, he's otherwise perfect. Yeah, he doesn't transform. Who cares? I rarely transform my figures anymore, I'm more focused on display and photography these days and this figure fits my needs...perfectly. I'm going to keep on calling this guy perfect because good lord this is a well-made figure. The paint, the sculpt, the accessories, the build, the articulation...I could go on but if you own him you know. I only paid $300 and I'm happy I didn't pay more, but would he be worth it? Yep. I plan to buy Starscream and Cyclonus when/if they ever come out, this figure has me hooked.

^ Really liking that photo of Megs with Optus Pex! Is it just the lighting, or that figure looks like it has a metallic paint job?

Megatron has a glossy sheen, really nice in person. Pexus has a coat of paint, but the lighting is helping both figures. And thanks!
