So far I quite like his Optimus, because at the very least it's not some guy doing a bad Peter Cullen impersonation.

I kinda felt like him when I heard he was chosen for the role. Alan Tudyk has an innate sarcastic, uncertain quality to his voice as if he was asking you whether you are really sure about what you say. His Optimus thus sounds kinda uncertain too, not really sure about what he is doing.

He's been a pretty good Optimus so far. I met him once irl and I have to say that he's a pretty cool guy.

However I cannot hear his Optimus voice without thinking of Harry Vanderspeigle.

Although I wouldn't say Optimus Prime's performance in particular is nuanced overall the narrative flow of the series certainly is. Those watching are just waiting for Megatron to betray everyone, but SPOILER ALERT.... that doesn't happen at all in season 1, which was a fresh and breezy new take. It will likely happen eventually or where will the series evolve and grow, but still it was fun to see two heavy hitters actually working together rather than "one shall stand and one shall fall" all season long.

The first few episodes were pure kiddie schmaltz (something even the 80's version rarely was), but I sometimes forget that these toons are for kids and are trying to sell merch. However by the later episodes you start to feel like you're watching an animated version of the Michael Bay live action movies! Such a good show and only got better after re-watching the season.

Good on you Alan that you took the material seriously and are doing a great job. Now bring on season 2.

I was at a convention in like 2017 and I went to see Alan Tudyk and asked him to sign my blu-ray copy of DOTM. He stared at it and said "This is probably my first time signing a cover for this." We laughed and I asked if he'd ever come back for a live action Transformers film and he quickly responded

    "Ha! No."

A shame he didn’t get cast as Optometrist Prime, that’s my favorite character

And Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball and Sonny from I,Robot. It's crazy that he's played all these varied roles but aren't similar at all.

I haven’t seen much of the show, but isn’t he unsure about GHOST to the point he lies about Bumblebee being dead? He is questioned about holding Decepticons in captivity by Megatron? Distrusted by Dot? Seems he has a lot on his plate. :p

The other 2 are a certainty, but I don't think he lied about Bumblebee being dead lol. After the war ended, pretty much everyone who remained went into hiding, Bee being one of the many. And I suppose he was the easiest to get ahold of to train the Terrans. As for GHOST, we know hardly anything so far. We've seen a few people who work for them (Meridian namely, but he's former) plus the fact that Elita, Optimus, and Megs are part of them too. I don't think we've even seen the leader of GHOST yet.

Easily the first time in a long long time that Optimus Prime has felt human instead of self parody. Glad to have him on board.

I love the breadth of Tudyk's work, man's got RANGE. Watched his arc in "Dollhouse" and was enamored with how convincing he was the WHOLE time.
