The first few episodes were fine and mostly enjoyable, not amazing but not bad. But the 4th episode was really good. I laughed audibly several times. I am enjoying it for the most part and want to know what happens. Don't see what all the fuss is about, this is just like all the other raunchy adult cartoons that are flooding the market with a little 2000 adult swim vibe. It has a stellar cast. Love Frank Welker as Fred's Dad, great touch.
I don't fully disagree here. I think one of the things that wears it out on me is that they do it to friends, colleagues and random people for no good reason without much comeuppance. If it were treated as a legitimate flaw, I can see the caustic attitude working somewhere. She'd need redeeming qualities too... unlike this Velma. Those other cartoons have a better grasp of humor than this. And being just like the mass of adult cartoons is a problem when it's a part of the Scooby-Doo franchise. It shouldn't be genericized to that degree. I would wager there's not that much crossover between people who like those shows and people who tuned into a Scooby-Doo show. "Velma origin story" really conjures up a different image than this show. Nonetheless, glad someone can enjoy it. There's already another season on the way so at least it'll work for you.
Someone several pages back tried baiting people into arguing since they "liked" the show and we were all ninnies for hating it. Rodimus probably thought you were trolling too since most people as far as I've seen think this rendition is very bad.
You take that back! That kid wrote a way better script than this, and you know it. Yea, her character in this certainly does come off as a condescending jerk. In a sea of unlikable things in this show, she is by far the top of that list. Everyone else has 'more' likability than she does.
I asked a coworked today if he had paid attention to the shitstorm around this show, and he looked at me and said “why would I care about a bunch of people being upset over a show for Toddlers?”
I love the fact that the show is so bad that the twitterati are convinced that it is a conspiracy to make them look bad.
On the topic of that image, I picked up on a ton of weird and conflicting jokes. Pretty sure the show is trying to do the South Park "making fun of everybody" but failing because the only people the writers interact with who don't bathe in money are random Twitter and Reddit posters, so they can't write something that sounds natural... much less, funny.
Yea, pretty much it's brought in all the sides of the internet to call it shit. It's the show that finally united the internet on one single opinion, Velma sucks.
Just read that. I will never understand the mental gymnastics of some people. I can't imagine how sensitive, insecure, and blinded by ideology you have to be that you come up with some crazy political fueled conspiracy instead of just going with the fact that it's really just a really poorly written and ill thought out show. Fucking insane.
It's like people have forgotten that the simplest solution is usually the best. Can jump through these hoops or just be like... bad writing exists. I mean, Ancient Aliens has been going on for so long I guess I shouldn't be surprised. At least that theory might've inspired Mystery Inc. Speaking of that show, some fun. I was trying to remember why I didn't totally despise the Mystery Inc Velma and I found this clip. Shows how good gags can endear a character. Think I might need to save my next Transformer for later and buy this show on DVD.
You know the fans will legit want Mindy’s head on a pike if, Primus forbid, they ever end up in the show
