I wouldn't mind having both Monstructor and Dinoking as separate releases (Hope this means that they will be decently retooled from the Dinobots).

About Kingdom Rhinox, the transformation is a mess but fortunately is not a Kingdom Tracks mess where you feel that the figure is going to break at any moment. The toy itself though, has a pretty solid feel (MUCH more solid than the T30 figure that could fall off just by looking at it) and lots of articulation. Overall, while flawed and most likely the worst of the recent BW updates, it still is more of a side-step from the T30 toy.

 

Would you know anything about the release of Dinoking?

Monstructor kinda feels like an inevitability anyway. Only American G1 Combiner who's never had an update. Just hope he's not tiny.

While this could be a bunch of bull, it at least sounds reasonable. Honestly, it does. I could see Volcanicus being mainline/retail release, Dinoking being Selects, and Monstructor being Target. Absolutely. It's just quirky enough to fit Target's MO with exclusives as of late, and just the whole thing seems legit. It's one of the less crazier "rumors" we've received. I mean, we've had some whoppers where you took one look, laughed, and then realized this person was trying to be deadly serious but it just didn't work. This ain't that. Will it pan out that way? We'll have to wait and see. Is it possible nothing happens? Absolutely.

Not going to have shells. Not in the budget. Other figures would have to be sacrificed for them and since they don't transform, they wouldn't sell well.

Evan basically said (and I'm paraphrasing here) that people figured out the reuse for these molds when Dinoking's name was mentioned. Short of him saying "yes" using that exact word, this is his way of saying yes without losing his job.

This. It'll be a mix of the shell and the inner robot to create a new form as Iguanus did. (And honestly, Iguanus turned out to be a pretty cool figure.)

 

The DinoKing sounds likely, but if it is already getting new tooling on a few parts, it's seems unlikely that it would then be retooled further to make it "organic looking" for Monstructor. Always a possibility of course, but just doesn't seem likely.

I do hope the part about DinoKing being a Selects is true, I don't want to rely on a store exclusive for this one...

 

Yeah I don't see monstructor getting every component retooled/deco'd from the dinobot molds, Dinoking works because he was most likely the original idea but knew they couldn't do it unless they sold the dinobots first. Target exclusives especially only get a new deco or slight tool of the head not 5 new toolings etc

4chan, huh? Then I'm treating it like utter bullshit. 4chan could tell me the sky is blue and I would not believe it.

In any case, core class is just too small to work amongst what Hasbro has been building for the past several years in terms of relative scale amongst characters, and it certainly doesn't work for me (and neither does the [lack of] engineering on display so far). Whatever we get from the core class Dinobots, be it the Dinoforce or Pretender Monsters, I hope that it all leads to toys of a different class (like deluxes) by showing that such things are popular enough to sell.

 

This has got me thinking: which retailer would I be most scared of if I leaked exclusives?

Marvel Legends or Star Wars Black then I'd say Disney. But Disney don't do Transformers....

That leaves Hasbro Pulse, Walmart, Target, Amazon, Game/GameStop/EB, formerly Walgreens, and Fan Channel.

Walmart likely the biggest entity - but don't seem to really care about how they go about announcing and selling their exclusives....

Then I'd pick Amazon- they are big, and actually own a lot of the internet's infrastructure....

They don't look the same, no. But also, you look at that head, and there's only one character that comes to mind when you see it. Rhinox. So it's recognizable. Could it have been better? Yeah. But also, it's recognizable. And that's ultimately what matters. The rest of the figure is definitely my least favorite of the BW figures from the past two years, but the head ain't that bad.

 

Could it be better? Yes but still as is it looks like Rhinox still.

 

Kingdom Rhinox has a very good-looking face sculpt, I like it a lot judging it on its own merits, however if you want to match the Mainframe animated design there are a number of small things that make it look too-far-removed from the show design.

Firstly, the green is too pale. A big part of identifying Transformers is their colour-scheme, so the green needs to be darker.


This is a photo of 4th Party oversized Rhino Warrior.

Next, the head is too wide. The whole head needs to be more oval shaped.



Lastly, the inclusion of "ears" on the sides of the head throws off the look.
I apologise, I don't have any photo manipulation software to speak of, so I have to fingerpaint.



What we're left with is a lot closer to the show design. To properly match the show design the mouth would have to extend all the way to the chinstrap beard, but I can't pull that off with what I have to work with.

It’s the lips and eyes on the kingdom one that are off. Something about how they made them more like a generic autobot face made it feel like it isn’t rhinox’s face. It’s weird because from what I can tell they nailed everyone else’s headsculpts for BW.
