If you could go back to the movies during the 1980's which dream premiere would you love to go see in person? Mine would be the first Top Gun
I am aware, but if I could go back in time and see any movie in theaters, it would be Star Wars, the original, not A New Hope as it is now called.
There's recorded audio in YouTube of the original 1970's audience reacting to watching some of the scenes from the finale of Star Wars for the first time. The one I'm familiar with had a woman randomly call Tarkin a "monster" outloud, and had a crazy huge audience pop when Han Solo showed up out of nowhere to save Luke from Vader's T.I.E.
Yup, this. We moved to Europe around the time the movie came out so I didn’t get to see it at all until I got it on VHS 2-3 years later.
Since I saw the '86 Transformers movie in the theaters as a kid, I go with either Back To The Future or Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
Yeah…I think Raiders would be a good one for me. I don’t think I saw ANY of the Indy movies in the theater. I actually saw BTTF in the theater back then! I went with my best friend and his Mom. To this day, I still remember her leaning over to us during the final scene and saying, “Wow guys, it looks like there’s going to be another one!”.
Blah, Transformers the movie? Indiana Jones? Star Wars? Screw that, I'm going back in time and watching the trashiest films I can. Starting with Cannon Films' (The same Cannon who made Superman 4) take on Little Red Riding Hood. With the aristocrat werewolves... And, most importantly, Terrance Stamp, as the devil. He only appears in one scene, has no dialogue, and is literally driven into, and out of the scene in a limo. Now that is a movie to go back to 1984 to see in theaters. Especially knowing what's coming, and knowing just how bizarre it is. I wanna hear the reactions to this bizarre monstrosity of a film's first viewing in real time. It's a film that it totally insane from start to finish.
I cannot believe this. (Yes, yes, I know it's RT. I know, please people, no grief about it. I'm just stunned by the numbers. The Company of Wolves)
Man, there's so many films from that time period I would've loved to have done that with. D: First Blood, Ghostbusters, Stand By Me, Blue Velvet, The Shining, Blade Runner, Back to the Future... Naturally it would've also been awesome to be among the first people to see the original TF movie.
Back to the Future, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, First Blood, Commando, Lethal Weapon 2, and Rocky IV would probably be at the top of my list.
Are you talking Premiere like with the press and cast of the film or just going on opening day in the 80's?
My god, I think a holy grail in the recorded history of Transformers would be footage of the children in tears as they watch Optimus Prime die. I'd definitely want to get that on camera if I could time travel - and see how many current TFW2005 members are there, hah.
