My ollie's still has stacks of cyclonus, rhinox, and the Amazon minicons.

I now want the minicons but missed the sale. Does ollie's send out coupons or anything often?

You have to be part “Ollie’s army” to get them, but from time to time yes, but not super often

I say this often to collectors, I know we all want a sale, but if you see an item and want it even cheaper (especially when it's on discount at a place like Ollies or Ross) and you pass, don't complain when it's gone and now you are reduced to paying evilbay scalper prices to get it. If you have to wait and get deal after deal you don't actually want the figure and you just want the deal. Because if you really want the toy, you will pay msrp when it's available.

I'm not sure this has to be a binary.

There are some figures I am very hungry for, so I'll pay MSRP.
There are some times, I just like getting a deal...so I'll buy that even if I don't need it.
There are some figures that are nice-to-haves, so I'll wait for a deal.

Oh let's be clear, I don't need the minicons for my collection and they are far from a want even. But I don't want them for $10-15... Just not $20 lol.

Like I missed out on fort Max, wasn't collecting then, and both want and need him for my collection. BUT I don't want or need him at $300+ that he's going for.

@Agent Prime 2814 has a point about Ollie's and Ross, etc. Certain times a year I'll stop by those stores weekly and nothing ever lasts too long. The day after Christmas and the toy aisle is just bare shelving. You can play the waiting game for a sale at a lot of stores, but when the toys come to Ollie's or Ross then you normally don't have the luxury to sleep on it. If you see a figure at one of these stores then you can really only count on one shot to purchase it.

I know from experience that I've seen figures that I passed on for lack of interest maybe 1 or 2 weeks in a row, but then have an idea for a custom and head back on week 3 and they're gone. I missed out on some of those GI Joe "fake Lego" sets back in November. Passed on a Friday, I realized that the $12 set was worth it just for the mini-figs, went back on Sunday and the sets were sold out. Never saw these particular sets (Tomahawk) at any other Ollie's either.

No disagreement here. I was just trying to build on the argument to add more categories.

Looks like a fourth category: pay more than MSRP for a figure you really, REALLY want has also emerged.

I'd buy one and people would hate me when I turned him into pathfinder. Of course since he was so plentiful oversees it wouldn't be unheard of someone buys the stock for pennies on the dollar. I mean that's how a lot of the rise of cobra vehicles came to the US.

I can't imagine I'd do it with this mold, as things stand, but I've had my own Cosmos customs with past molds, which if this mold wasn't so impossible to get, I'd likely have done.
