Not exactly jakks related, but two days ago, I just found out that McDonalds is doing Mario Kart happy meal toys this month. (Most of them are rerelease of previous series, but with Toadette as the only new one) So I started going to multiple McDs, and asking them which ones they had, since apparently you can just buy the toys without the food. So far I got yoshi, toadette, dk, and toad. I'd like to get peach.
They require some sticker applications to the vehicles. The scaling is kind of weird. Like Bowser seemed too small, Peach I would guess ends up being big due the vehicle being smaller. Close to the hot wheels scale, but not exact. I was surprised to see that Yoshi has neck turn articulation. Toad had very limited movement, and Toadette had none.
Looks like they’re hauling out this dreadful Link figure again, with extra accessories for a ridiculous price. Its a shame they have the Zelda license and this is all they can muster. I have the original release and its absolute trash. Crappy joints, horrible proportions. The legs are like 3” scale legs on a 4” scale body. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 4" Link Figure
That actually came out a while ago as a GameStop exclusive at the time... So they're doing it yet again for some reason... Also just rereleased the original 4" Villager figure. Now granted I was kinda happy to get that since it's at least some representative I didn't have for the Smash shelf. But yeah, all these Nintendo properties they clearly still have the license for, and only Mario gets anything actually new... And barely, at that.
So did the Bowser jr and Metal Sonic that were supposed to be sold by walmart get cancelled and funneled through Ross and the jakks store? want to confirm before dropping $25 on ebay for bowser jr
I don't know if it'll come from Jakks (will they be ones with the Mario movie license?), but no doubt we'll get penguins. Just the love for them from the trailer is enough to guarantee it, imo.
Man, I saw Wendy today at a specialty store and was about to buy her until they rang her up at $30. The dude seemed shock to hear me say I would pass on her.
My son collects the mario figures for a lot longer than I have. He's had the Left bowser for like 10 years I swear. (It's a guess) and this christmas he received the Princess castle and it came with the right bowser. Well the Left one came in a red box and it was with the old 2" collection (as some people have told me) My son swears the old red box figures are bigger than the new 2.5" ones but I still think they look smaller but whatever. I know the Left one isn't part of the 4" collection and it's part of the smaller one but why is it so much bigger than the newer 2.5" figures?
I always thought the bigger one was simply part of the 6" collection, which consisted just of those larger boxed ones you are remembering (Donkey Kong and Metroid were also in this collection). Not sure it's "meant" to scale with the 4" or the 2.5" figures but I sort of thought it fit in well enough with the 4" Mario etc. That said I do think the 2.5" Bowser is comically small / out of scale with the other 2.5" figures.
