Yep, basically the correct transformation wants the side panels extented, and not tabbed (you can have a confimation just seeing that two grooves at leg sides, made for accomodate the tiny rubber wheel).

Ooh. He does look a lot better when posed. Less concerned about raidens stability as well. Feeling like picking them up more, and more every pic. Backpack still meh, but whatever, probably removeable. I’ve lowered my expectations a lot and it’s helping lol. Looks much much better combined in these pics than the prototype pics. Small combiner hands are either cool cause they’re built in or not a problem as they’re replaceable. didn’t realise quite how inaccurate Ms robot modes were!

The train's toilet tank (in green) gets in the way of the bogie sitting flush so it ends up slanted in combined mode.

No such problem for Suiken because the train has no toilet tank (?). Lol.

    They should be.

Raiden's arms transform differently than most Combiners. Instead of the robot legs forming the wrist area, making stashing the hands difficult (but not impossible, as Mastermind Creations has proved), the wrists are the robot mode chests.

Which makes it very easy to both store and reveal the fists. Just store them inside the torso, and swap them out in place of the robot heads.

Looking better and better combined into Raiden with every bot that TT reveals.

Those shoulder pylons should be lower though. That's a real bummer that they go up too high for both arm bots.

Worried still about how Kaen will turn out. Him positioned awkwardly in the photos we've seen thus far doesn't help.

Still excited to complete the set, but I feel that a few too many compromises have been made to get these perfect trains. Two out of three modes executed quite well is still a good score for each bot I think and in line with what I expected.

    Ebay:
If these were not so overpriced I might actually be interested. As it is, my money is better spent getting the original G1 ones via J-Subculture. Ironically, Seizan was the last one I bought recently for about 4500 yen. Now I only need to hunt down the major accessories like the chest shields and backpack.

Figures btw they are giving him a sword. Japan could never resist giving giant robots bristling with ranged weapons swords. :D

Transformers Masterpiece MPG-04 Trainbot Suiken – Hasbro Pulse
They cost 150$, plus tax, plus shipping... in the USA.
EU prices are far worse, with this one costing 170€.

I would be interested to know what you like about them. If you care to elaborate.

I like their bulkiness it fits the rest of raiden. And as parts of the trains they carry the nice finish with them too. The colours are a little odd but they allow the arms to carry less bulk that say Kaen has had to deal with in the form of side guns.

I think it was an creative solution by the Takara designers for have the trains that form the arm at an accurate length without trying to compress that extra length in arm and robot mode.

But I feel it doesn’t work: they don’t look cohesive and the color is neither neutral nor does it match the legs. Plus they are just too bulky for me to parse them as Raiden's ankle guards.

I also feel like this was a concession made so that only the train mode looks proper, while the individual bot mode and the combiner mode suffers.

I don't think it would've taken a lot to do different style leg beams, as the torso ones are just one panel. I think it was a mix of liberties and making use of the armbots backpack guns.
