Decided to mess with MS-02 today and found this discovery:
    20230107_180223.jpg
Whole thigh "cover" came off while trying pull of extreme poses. Besides the removable side cover coming off, could we expect a "Deluxe" version with removable Covers for a damaged look down the line? Hmmmm...

Crappy lighting but crazy articulation and excellent balance of the figure.

Everything on my copy is tight as can be (even the smokestacks) except the gas tank on his right leg in bot mode, which turns freely. How should I go about tightening it up?

You could use floor / nail polish / kikis, to help tighten it up.

He's also got a removable panel on his side and I think someone mistakenly received a "battle damaged" head. So it would be odd if they don't do a version down the line with those options

Yea that's what I meant by "Removeable side covers" Seriously I dunno how I would feel "IF" they only made these removable damage parts for a "Deluxe/Premium" version and leave all of use out in the cold. I'm pretty sure they'll eventually release a painted Version but still wonder what's the plans for damage parts.

Well they could be doing a death of Optimus Prime in those grey colors like Super7 is doing. Maybe that’s what they had planned to do. If they release it as an upgrade pack set with more items, I’ll probably get it.

What I want from Magic Square next is to see them do this!!

Thanks. Was hoping to put less work into this, but if I have to make one myself, I could do that.

You mention alloy rods. What alloy did you use?

Holy Primus! I never got MP-44, too expensive for my Canadian blood, never got TE-01, too blocky/less articulation, never got any of the MP-44 KO, hate the panels/backpack(less)/transformation, never got the MS-01, it just didn't intrest me. All I have is just my Takara MP-01 and my Hasbro MP-10* Primes, which I will never part.

But, holy Primus! That MS-02 is exactly what I was looking for! Now comes the hard part. I didn't preorder it because I'm waiting for MST to release a more complete version with all excessories, MP-44 type trailer, heads, battle damaged, etc. But I may run the risk of missing out on the unpainted toon version, if the next variants are all just painted silver striped ones.

*I am willing to sell my Takara MP-10 BTW(PM me for details).

I’d buy a metallic darker red painted with silver and chrome, yellow lights on the forearms variant in a NY minute. Including a silver stripe. Silver stripe under the chest too. Don’t want metallic fleck. Nope! Give me a polished cobalt finish and let the reds be the same. So it looks like glass from certain angles or a still lake. Sigh… they can do it with plastic easy.. and Mazinger chijokin are prime examples. If Bandai can do it, certainly MS can.

I don’t think that’s a fair comparison lmao. Bandai is a Massive company, one of the biggest there is, they’ve been in the figure
game for 70 years. Trying to compare what they can do to Magic Square, which is a relatively small and unknown third party company that only started a few years ago, is a completely unfair comparison.

I disagree.. a process is a process. The process to getting a mirror finish on plastic is the same as getting chromed plastic. Just because Bandai has more resources and multiple processes doesn’t mean MS can’t do the same with adding a process. Don’t they use the same factories sometimes? Also if other parts are chromed on MS Merch then that means they’ve done it before. Which means they just need to apply that standard to the bot parts as a whole. I think it’s almost like electroplating.. but with a gloss clear coat in the end to do it. Or heck, just paint the thing and add a clear glossy finish and done. Easy peasy.. charge more for it. I’ll pay. Add some diecast to the feet and other parts. I’ll pay.. it’s not that difficult. TE did it. Most other companies do it..

Forgive me if this has already been said, but preorder for the new batch is up on ShowZ. Releases late January.

Unless reports are that these new batches are improved tolerances, I'm gonna wait on those for right now.

Considering the new Nemesis Prime has improved tolerances and it’s the same mold, I was assuming this would too.

My bad, that was not my intention. I don't know why that never occurred to me. Your right, it is just a repaint of the some mould.

Edit: But then again, maybe MST was just shipping out the last of their first run mould to Show.Z, and then fire up the moulds to do the repaint. I say this because on MST website the MS-02 are still showing sold out, why rerun the 1st version just to ship to Show.Z, and not put the preorder back up on their own website? That would be quite the smaller run and not worth the cost to MST, IMO.
