You guys still remember this underrated TakaraTomy figure stand? It's still very useful IMG20230101183116.jpg

Has anyone's copy have a really tight left arm? I wanted to take the arm off so that I could shave off the arm's ball joint, but I think I ended up putting a stress mark on his shoulder?

Yeah same here. I think it's a common issue. On Emgo's vid he had the same problem too.

I think I’m done. I just need to go back and apply sealant:

EDIT: Damn, I need to clean up the gold on the chest a little bit. I hadn’t noticed that until I zoomed in.

Fixed, plus added gold to the nipples and made the one eye blue.

What steps are involved when you add a sealant ?
    I'm curious.

Usually I just give a super thin swipe of Future polish to just prevent the possibility of paint scratching or flaking. But it's a pretty basic version of what I'm sure others do a lot more professionally.

Future should work, but I grabbed these and apply usually 2-3 coats of whichever is appropriate. They aren’t perfect, but they are a noticeable improvement over bare paint.

Ok, now I’m done (added a tiny bit of gold to the bicep area).

It’s really not difficult, not expensive and hugely rewarding on bots like this with so many hidden details. Usually I just add small details and I cheat when I make a mistake and use paint thinner to clean it up. You can always just remove it entirely if it doesn’t work out. Give it a shot.

I don't suppose there's a tutorial on how to do this?

Picked this one up on a decent discount, and I think I dig it. Hot Rod is undoubtedly the more impressive entry in the wave, but Crosshairs is interesting enough in the attempt at realising his coat aesthetic.

His shins and body are facades, but I also don't mind since they are under layers of coat anyway. The car mode is very nice, and I really like how the front of his coat so visibly integrates into the bonnet, and how for a shellformer, there is still some appreciable transformation to the core figure.

What I do not appreciate is the limitations on his upper body movement. With this coat, I want his arms and head to be fully expressive to make up for any limitations imposed by the coat, and what we have is limited range on his neck and shoulders, while the elbows are a highlight with their big standard 90 degree range. It's fine, ultimately.

The collar mod I did significantly improves the figure. Not much to be done about the shoulders but there are workarounds for some poses.

Yes, I was considering doing the same.

The other thought I had, and one I might be more tempted by if it was a brick and mortar sale, would be to pick up a second to modify. I have no attachment to Crosshairs as a character, but maybe see if I have another movie head to fit the body, cut down the shoulders to improve the range on the second copy, that sort of thing. I most likely won't, and soon enough he will going to a semi permanent home in the increasingly cramped ss shelf where limited movement isn't a bother.

For the shoulders, just take a nailclipper (with a straight edge, not curved) and just snip the back of those oversized gray shoulder tabs sticking out. Helps with the upper body articulation a bunch.

Got Crosshairs today along with Legacy Scraphook and he isn't good but he isn't bad. Mine has some silly QC but overall it ain't the worst. His biceps were WAY too tight but I fixed them and one of the hinges on his car roof is stressed and WAY too tight and I ain't even bothering with that. However I prefer it folded out as it actually makes his coat convincing. Removing it makes him look good too. Transformation is annoying but the car mode is more than worth it. I recommend him.

I noticed earlier last but copy has some pretty worrying stressmarks at the hinges of the coat. Anyone else have something similar?
