As a comic-book first TF fan, I find it weird, unnecessary and also a potential problem. Legends was great because (amongst other things) you didn't need much free space to have a whole collection. The cartoon scale craziness is eating up my space. I get Omega had to be big, but for me Grimlock's size is nonsense.

The Newage surface detailing is almost entirely cartoon accurate.

Considering NA made a stripped-down David, I wonder if there’s any chance of them releasing a version of this without the electronics. I mean, that stuff is neat of course but I have absolutely zero interest in my figures having those features - and would prefer they didn’t.

That said, this is the best looking Omega I’ve seen at any scale (not counting Spreem who will always be unrivaled for all time forever) and unless he drops at some ridiculous price I’ll get one and just ignore the electronics.

And speaking of Spreem…for the potential NA Spreem I want more than just a redeco. I want two hands with flip out cannons so he can pull off some semblance of his “Ima bend over and be a tank now” transformation.

Not getting fooled twice like with Jetfire and skipping this initial release in hopes for an F version. If no F version comes, Pangu Toys will be my main, but definitely picking up an NA Spreem if they produce that deco.

Just to clear things up here, the only electronic feature that Newage has is the moving tank, equipped with a motor system that newage themselves came up with. PT OS is the one that has the light up features on both arms. I don't think the motor system is going to make a huge difference on the price of Newage's offering just like I don't think the light up feature of the PT OS is gonna make a difference for its price.

As for price, a few pages back on here someone mentioned that it's floating around overseas that the price is potentially going to land around 8xx rmb, so if this is indeed the case, the maximum price that Newage's will be is $131.22 base price, which means we might be looking at maybe $160-180 or so when it hits stores like ShowZ and Bombusbee? Somewhere around there, which would be fine with me and I believe a pretty fair price for their offering, all things considered.

I'm not for sure if there will be an F version of this with more minimal paint applications along with no motor system or die-cast, but I would say there's a fairly decent chance. I don't think that every figure that has come with a lot of paint and die-cast has gotten an F version tho so it seems hit or miss. I guess at the end of the day it's up to you whether you want to risk it to see if you can get some more savings on this character with an F version. Newage figures usually stay in stock for a while so it wouldn't be too risky of a wait. Your choice at the end of the day :D

It’s funny what people value/don’t value. I’m an old dude who grew up in the 80s. I distinctly remember having toys like a generic F-14 Tomcat that had lights and sounds. When I would spread the wings, it sounded like the thrusters were activated and you could press a button that made red lights flash like it was shooting a machine gun or something. Did this make it a better toy? No way… but I still appreciated the effects. They’re definitely of an era (or maybe not… maybe toys that are actually for little kids still do that stuff today… I wouldn’t really know). My point is, Transformers kind of transport me back to my childhood when life was simple and real problems didn’t exist. I dig the lights and sounds of NA Devastator because they give me that nostalgic feeling from when I was a kid. I’m stoked about the motorized tank feature on NA David and honestly wouldn’t mind if they stole the LED light idea from Pangu for Omega’s arm cannon. If it costs me an extra $5 - $10, it’s no big deal. That’s one less trip to McDonld’s. I can live with that. :)

I’m grew up un the same era (pushing 50) and I didn’t really like action features, motors and sounds then, either. Just different tastes.

I don’t really care for light or sound gimmicks but I am suuuuuper stoked for the motorized tank. To me that is a big part of the original Omega Supreme charm and the fact that we finally have a new OS toy that does this is so exciting! Total fun and nostalgia right there. Can’t wait to have my WST and micromasters hang out around the base mode on the living room tatami.

It's not Legends scale, but the Wei Jiang Omega had a motorized tank as well. Plus a ridiculously long track - I think people were talking about putting him around their Christmas tree in lieu of a train.

Do they usually wait to reveal the repaints until the regular version is released?

    Fully in for this guy.
Grimlock and Jetfire proved me that NA can make excellent figures at a larger (than their usual) size. I expect their Omega Supreme to be an amazing bot to handle and pose.

Yeah it’s 100% subjective but Pangu just looks better to my eye. It’s partially the greebles around the torso, partially the use of the clear red on the chest and partially the glossy New Age surface finish. These days I’m preferring Magic Squares look (to the extent that I just ordered a bunch of MS bots to replace a lot of my MA figures) and Pangu looks like it will fit better with MS style.
There’s definitely no right or wrong here and I can definitely see why many prefer NA’s Omega, but for me, I’ve started to move away from NA’s styling. I’m just glad there are options, and especially happy that the one I prefer is also the cheaper one.
I will say, NA bots have fabulous glossy paint. They’re super tough and durable, their transformations are generally fun and they’re beautiful mini MP’s - I don’t think anyone would do wrong by picking up this guy. He’ll be great.

This guy isn't going to be fully painted, and the plastic won't be anywhere near as glossy as it is in the promo pics. Newage's jetfire is also mostly unpainted, and he fits right in with magic square releases. As for Pangu, it's still unclear if the chest is going to be clear like the Newage. The dx9 was also clear in the same area. Not trying to convince you to pick one over the other, but these are just some things you might want to consider.

Wish the tank was smaller on both. The track looks silly versus it.

mini gabriel really never had a shot at that smaller tank. since he was just shrunken down he is kind of like popeye. he just is what he is at this point.

in theory the 2.0 version definitely could have had a smaller tank form. after all he does turn all kinds of ways when he collapse into the chest on this newer version.

but then again if it ain't broke don't fix it. so maybe he just didn't think it was anything special at this point. from the outside looking in it appears he was up against the clock so to speak.

The answer is mixed. Sometimes they don't announce any repaints until the figure is out, other times they have announced repaints before release (though generally not all of them).

Maybe instead of the surface detailing it is the visible hinges that bother you? NA is somewhat consistent about not caring about where large visible hinges end up.

I found it strange too, but part of the appeal of 3P Legends to me is that they can follow the Sunbow scale religiously while taking up a fraction of the space that official Generations figures take up. Like, even the biggest figures in a Legends scale line probably come up to like an old school Leader class size.
