Further to the dodgy Haslab shenanigans, I know of another UK retailer that has been offered Galactus and the Razorcrest, albeit at a higher price than the others. The whole thing is a fucking joke.

Had a large box delivered by DPD today containing the Cthulhu Wars expansion sets that I backed on Kickstarter back in the mists of time, which was very nice and all - especially considering at least one other KS thing I backed has absolutely shit the bed over the last couple of days - but no longer of any use to me since I had to flog all of my Cthulhu Wars stuff during lockdown.

To eBay with it all, begrudgingly!

Random thought of the day : Earthrise Runabout & Runamuck don't have extensives stripes like the original toys had, so couldn't that be an excuse to sell repaints of those two in toy deco with some stripes on them this time, as even Runamuck is getting a bit rare now too, and maybe they can add a sweatner by giving both toys all the weapons too ?

    ------------
I got the impression IDT just bought the max amount in their own name to resell and likely put some through in their employee's names too.

& that is assuming the are not allowed to simply say their Hasbro rep can we order more please ?

But as was mentioned this stuff isn't really be the best business practice as you don't get squat for a year. But at least if they buy as a customer and someone returns it as broken or with QC issues they can return it too.

I notice smyths are a bit cheeky and just sell a toy with a reduced label on it if someone stole the head off it or something.
To be honest some "broken" toys retain some value as part or accessories. I've many times bought more than one of something just for the extra accessories... (remember RID Prime Arcee and her one gun and one blade for an older example of that).

I'm thinking of buying a few current items just for their weapon symitry too, I'm even looking for a low cost Elita One for that reason. Heck I buy Fosilisers for funsies but I also bought a rather improbable number of Tricanius just for the Blast effects too.

Sometimes that can be a tipping point reason for buying a repaint too, that is why I bought both kup decos so the other Kup's Energon Goodies can be given to Hot Rod.

It's a bit of a pain at the moment with the Buzzworthy Bumblebee Packing choice containing some items that will be a pain for a retailer to get rid off. & it is going to carry on with the next wave too where people will want to get that Hatchet and Hound and have another chance at Cliffjumper, but the Kup and Bumblebee in that wave are very much unwanted excess stock I expect.

But I guess there is a small chance the Hot Rod repaints might help shift some Kups.

    -----------

I hope the pre orders for that Wave of Buzzworthy Hound show up soon I'd like him and a cliffy too.

Which bee is getting a repack?

I hope that wave goes up with a proper announcement, not just randomly appear at random o'clock. I really want that hatchet.

Good idea with the battlechargers. A selects two pack maybe, like they did with cordon and spinout. Toy colour redecos seem to keep going in that line.

Ahhhhhhhh I love this so much! It hits the sweet spot for me so perfectly that it actually makes me more irritated that Lego won't do these sort of things at retail. Even outside of the unwillingness to commit to a proper Castle theme, there's just so few cool buildings these days, just tons of vehicles.

Massive thanks to @Xaran Alamas for putting me onto this. It has made me wonderfully happy.

And speaking of Castle Lego, I should show off the modular wall pieces I've made, in the style of the classic 80s sets.

    IMG20230105221747.jpg

Same width, same height, a pretty low piece count, slap a couple of minifigs in there and you could sell them for under £20. But then I don't run the Lego company.

    Not yet.
I remember even at the tender age of whatever I was when all those were coming out that it was an utterly shameless and cynical cash grab by trying to emulate TMNT over and over again with different animals and different gimmicks. Shanghai Pizza Cats was particularly egregious as it was an already-existing anime, just hurriedly repackaged for the West to try and milk a few more grubby dollars out of the TMNT craze.

Bucky O'Hare didn't feel as if it came from that same cynical wellspring through. It was more a pastiche of old sci-fi serials like Flash Gordon than the 'mutant animals fight crime' genre. Also the theme song was far, far better than anyone deserved.

It does seem a bit of a wasted opportunity not to have reused those moulds as Throttlebots.

Might repaint the barrel a darker silver though

How's the colour matching? Looks pretty good but the finish on the barrel is definitely showing it's 3d print origins. I am still heartily tempted though.

It's a little lighter in hand than it looks in those images but it's not too far off. It's a close match 86 Slag's red if that's any help to you.

Happy to be of help :)

Ah the cynical cash grab repackaging... reminds me of how when Pokemon took off other companies hastily repacked/dubbed anime which even remotely involved humans with monster partners. I remember one I think it was called Monster Hunter (not related to the games AFAIK)? I remember one of the main monsters was a giant eyeball with a mouth and a long tongue. Probably helped the main character looked vaguely like Ash :D  I remember it was actually quite enjoyable and I caught my Dad out by asking him what he thought it was and he said Pokemon but no, HE WAS DECEIVED! :D

As for Bucky O'Hare, fair enough :)  and indeed it had a great theme tune - which my Mum hates

    Bucky... CAPTAIN BUCKY O'HARE!

Goes where no ordinary rabbit would dare...

I really need to get this guy   Super memorably BW character!

A 'little lighter'? Was that a pun? :sly: :lol

I think mine has just arrived with a little extra yesterday… not had time to open it though.

I have got my parcel from comics, posted a month ago, and obviously opened and the box torn apart… will see how the figures are later!

And of course, not forgetting Transformers rushing to dangle off the milky teats of the Pokemon fad with Armada. Gotta catch all 'em minicons, kids.
