I see your new head has the same "oval" ring on the forehead portion as mine. Don't know if the mold is slightly recessed there, or if the paint is just uneven in that area.

 

Yeah I think it's exaggerated a bit by the light and how closely we're looking at it. Not sure it's that noticeable from afar. Saying that if it's a blemish that I can't ignore I might try sanding and repainting it one day.

 

It only reflects strangely from dead on or a slight angle.

MS Toys legend size (not) Sideswipe and Red Alert

 

The bicep swivel on my copy froze up from too much silver paint and I can't break it free. Any advice on how to fix?

 

Try a hot water bath.

 

A new head and slightly better paint isn't enough to convince me to double dip. At this point, I want a v2.

 

Dude just arrived and was not expecting a fully painted figure. I'm glad i sold off ver 1 and got this instead.

He looks a bit angry though.

 

is the red on his body clear coated or something? i can see some texture in the palm pic.

 

Yeah there’s a shiny clear coat over all the red too. Got mine the other day.

 

Hoping they do a reissue of Red Alert too. I missed the boat on that guy.

 

It's not a clear coat, its fully painted. Some parts aren't painted and you can tell the difference in hand.



It's really hard to tell by pictures but you can see from the bottom of the foot that the 'heel' is shinier and glittery compared to the actual foot itself.

 

the original face sculpt was bad, but do ppl really feel this one is a whole lot better?

i initially thought it was just the shadow of the helmet brim casting a heavy shadow, but now that i see it up close it's not. why is there a black silhouette around the eyes and at the top of the nose bridge, is that intentional or just poorly painted? and the mouth sculpt is  

dunno, i guess you can say it's better in the sense that it's the lesser of the two evils.  

 

It's definitely better IMO, but looking at that close-up, not by as much as I thought originally. Looks better at a more normal distance though.

Still weird that this is the best MS could do, especially given how solid the facesculpts of recent bots like Jazz, Ironhide, Mirage, and Hound have been.

But yeah that nose ridge is black because they didn't paint his whole face properly.

 

Repainted the face. Looks better, but his eyes are definitely a bit too small giving him eye bags.

 

Thanks for sharing, pls advise which paint brand / color you used, and if you just applied directly on existing silver face, or did you remove some of the existing paint and apply on it, and if so, how? I need to do the same with my MT Hound "a", so... can use any tips  

 

is it possible to paint more of the eyes to get rid of the thick black border around it?

 

He never had a silver face, but all i did was mix white and grey gundam markers and used a tooth pick to apply the paint directly on his face. No need to remove the paint, It should still stick to the surface.

the eyes are smaller than the sockets on the face so you can't paint around the eyes unfortunately  That thick black border is just empty space.

 

Anyone tried simply swapping heads and putting the new one on the original figure? Is the colour difference too marked or could that actually work?

That's what I'm going to try: use the new head, shoulder cannon and rifle on the original Sideswipe.
