Unless they tease him in the film, this is probably what Paramount's explanation is.

I'm just gonna assume ROTB is a reboot. Also the "Bayverse Prime is Scourge" leaks are from a scrapped concept that was waaaaaaaay before the idea of ROTB existed (probably just a concept for a DOFP-inspired film).

Original concept didn't have Predacons, and the Terrorcons in the concept weren't even named except for Scourge. The Terrorcons would combine into a "beast-combiner" in that old concept as well. But this idea eventually ended up scrapped and replaced with a simpler plot. In that concept, the "Bumblebee Movie" was also intended to be a whole new continuity with ROTB being a stand-alone film.

Actually the studio might think a lack of bay is the problem and bring him back

I simply want a fun novie however I don't expect it to be good. If it's atleast a 6/10 then I can live with that.

One of the original scripts for the Bumblebee Movie was that Megatron would be seen frozen on Earth in a post-credits scene. Ultimately this was cut from the final film.

A TFW2005 user who saw the screening described Megatron as being very G1-inspired like the other Beeverse designs. His head was the classic and iconic "bucket-head", but the face inside the head was of Bayverse Megatron, or at least was a simplified version of Bayverse Megs' face. The (not canon) comic included with a Bumblebee Movie DVD showed Megatron being in his 2007 body but with a modified head to resemble the "bucket-head" slightly.

It has to be a reboot, because in the Bay films not one character ever says "Remember that time with the robot monkey...?"

    Simple.

I mean within the Bayverse TLK implies the original cast of 2007 was around throughout history, including WW2. None of them ever mention being around on earth for hundreds of years despite being shown to show up for the first time in 2007. wouldn’t be the first time they magically forgot. Not that I think this actually will be connected to that universe.

I feel like I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, do y’all think the movie will actually release in China? The only recent blockbuster I can remember getting a release in China was Avatar, which is pretty rare currently. ROTB will probably need China to be successful, bc it’s a huge market, and the movie will probably be a financial disappointment if it doesn’t.

If it doesn't open in China, ROTB will be deader than Starscream on his coronation day.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but, I don't think the chinese government is big on PoC.

It seems unthinkable that the studio wouldn't at least try to get a 200m tentpole special effects blockbuster on the albeit short list of western films that get a Chinese release.

Yeah, unfortunately this movie may not do too well considering the main human leads are POC. Fucking ridiculous but that’s just how China is.

Because China is a tad racist and most movies starring a POC actor do not do too well compared to if that actor was white or, obviously, Chinese.

Yeah, compare the versions of the posters for Star Wars Episode 7, between the ones used for the rest of the world and the ones specifically appearing in china.

There's a specific character who nearly got photoshopped off the poster entirely to the point you might even not see him on a casual glance, despite being one of the main leads.

Ok but that doesn't mean it'll be affecting how this film does. They love transformers especially optimus prime I still feel age of extinction and dark of the moon making 1 billion was because optimus prime had some decent screentime while age of extinction he was like having the most screentime for a robot screentime

Yeah, unfortunately you’re right. Transformers has done pretty big in China though so maybe they’ll still make a push for it. Like 1/3 of the last knights box office was from China I’m pretty sure.
